AUDIENCE(S): Young teenagers.

SITUATION: Vloggers are reflecting about the use of videogames in their lives, they are going to present the
advantages and disadvantages of using videogames, as well as general info related their favorite videogame.

PRODUCT: VLOG.

CRITERION A (LISTENING): KET listening test about Video games.

CRITERION B (READING): Reading comprehension test about “Time Games” book (multiple choice
questions).

CRITERION C (SPEAKING): Vlog about advantages and disadvantages about video games.

CRIERION D (WRITING): SCRIPT (about 250 words) for the Vlog.

TASKS:  
1. First, students will listen to, and match information given related to the topic of videogames.
They would answer different types of questions, using the format of the KET test. (A) i,ii,iii.  
2. Students will read the book “Time Games.” During the reading process, they would develop
reading skills like scanning and skimming by highlighting with different colors. Also, they would
learn about video games and how to face school life. Standard (B) i,ii,iii. 
3. Finally, students will use technological devices to create a Vlog, where they are going to share a
message to their classmates about video games. (C) i, ii, iii, iv. 
4. They will create their own scripts. There, they will write a script for their Vlogs, highlighting what
kind of games they like to play. Also, they are going to point out the advantages and
disadvantages of spending their time playing video games. (D) i, ii, iii, iv.

CRITERION A: LISTENING

Task: KET listening test about e-sports (playing sports video games).

Process.
1. Read the questions from the test.
2. Listen to the audio about e-sports.
3. Identify the answers to the multiple choice and true or false questions.
4. Choose the right answer on your test.

Task: Reading comprehension test about “Time Games” book.

Process.
1. Read the Book “Time Games”, written by Victoria Heward.
2. Identify the most important events from each chapter.
3. Read the questions given in the test.
4. Choose the right answer to the multiple-choice questions.
5. Answer the open questions with your opinion. Support all the answers with information of the book.

You must answer the written test.

CRITERION C: Speaking

Task: Video Vlog about the advantages and disadvantages of Video Games.

Process.
Start by creating a script for your Vlog following the step-by-step guide presentation explained in class that will
be available in Phidias
1. Plan and organize the setting from your video.
2. Use an electronic device to record your video (cellphone, tablet, or laptop).

Requirements:

1. The extension of the video must be minimum 1 and a half minutes – maximum 2 minutes.
2. The video must present the parts of the Outline from the script: Introduction, Body, and Conclusion.
3. You must use the Present Perfect Tense.
4. You must show the use of Complex and Compound Sentences.

3. Start with the Introduction -> Find a creative hook.


4. Write the Body -> Advantages and Disadvantages.
5. Finish the script with a Conclusion.
6. Read your script aloud to make corrections and practice pronunciation.

Requirements:

1. The script must be presented in the notebook written by hand.


2. The script must contain the parts of the Outline: Introduction, Body, and Conclusion.
3. It must be written using the Present Perfect Tense.
4. It must show the use of Complex and Compound Sentences.
5. The body of the script should evidence the use of the graphic organizers worked in class about
video games and the research made for the debate about the Advantages and Disadvantages of
playing Videogames.
6. Must be organized and have an order.
7. The extension of the script must be according to the duration of the video (Minimum 1 1/2 minutes –
Maximum 2 minutes.)
