    “Home Made Disinfectant”

    Objectives: To be able to see how acid can kill organisms.


    To be able to learn how to create a home made disinfectant.
    To be able to differentiate the effectiveness of a calamansi
    disinfectant to a vinegar disinfectant.

    Materials:
    Calamansi / lemon
    Vinegar
    2 spray bottles
    2 Flower pot with weeds

    Procedures:
    Prepare all the materials needed.
    Squeeze the calamansi/ lemon until all its juices are out. Pour the juice
    inside the spray bottle.
    Put the vinegar inside the spray bottle.
    Prepare the 2 flower pots and spray the vinegar and the calamansi/
    lemon on each pot’s weeds.
    Just put the flower pots outside. Observe what will happen to the
    sprayed part.
    Take note of your observations.

    Questions:
    1. What happen to the weeds?
    2. What do you think is in the calamansi (lemon juice) and vinegar that
    make the weeds react like that?
    3. Is there any side effects?
    4. Is the experiment effective?
    5. Is it appropriate to expose this kind of experiment to the public?

    Calamansi

    Vinegar
    Spray Bottles

    Flower Pots
    “Procedures”

    Squeeze
    the

    Pour the vinegar


    in the bottle.
    Spray it to the weeds and wait for a
    few days for the result.
