1. Objective:
The World Health Organization has made the assessment that COVID-19 cab be characterized as a
pandemic. However, this is the first pandemic in history that could be controlled. Therefore, there are
steps that can be taken by construction site managers to protect themselves and those onsite during this
coronavirus crisis.
Summary:
A novel (new) strain of coronavirus which originated in Hubei Province, China in 2019 can cause a respiratory
disease called COVID-19. It is important for all Katerra workers and Managers to identify and manage work
health and safety risks including the exposure to COVID-19. Katerra plans to respond to cases of COVID-19 at
work in line with advice provided by Saudi Ministry of Health and Katerra Management.
Planning and communication are key when it comes to effective project management. Although dealing
with the Covid-19 outbreak is unchartered territory for managers, speaking with workers, letting them
know what is happening and ensuring them that their safety is the top priority is extremely important
moving forward.
Whilst it is crucial that you are prepared for delays and disruption to projects, safety should be at the top
of your list as project manager and leader. Follow and keep up to date with the official advice from
Ministry of Health. To protect yourself and others from coronavirus, it is so important to know how the
virus is spread.
Spreading of COVID-19:
“Coronavirus is spread in sneeze or cough droplets. To infect you, it has to get from an infected person's
nose or mouth into your eyes, nose or mouth. This can be direct or indirect (on hands, objects, surfaces).
Keep this in mind. It will help you remember all the things you need to do to protect yourself and others
from the virus.”

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health have issued important advice on how to stop the spread of coronavirus.
Managers should follow this as strictly as possible and communicate this advice with workers so that they
are following more hygienic procedures onsite and are more protected from the disease. The official
advice includes:
Site managers must meet with workers and discuss and implement these procedures onsite. Similarly,
there should be an in-depth discussion of coronavirus symptoms and the plans that are in place if workers
should display any symptoms. It can take up to 14 days for these to appear. The most common
coronavirus symptoms include:
COVID-19 Symptoms:
Any kind of cough
shortness of breath
breathing difficulties
Fever (High temperature)
4
Document No: KAT-HSSE-Z-DOC-005 Developmental Housing Project of Saudi Arabia
If you or anyone else onsite should show any of these symptoms and has been to a place where there is
spread of coronavirus in the kingdom the advice you need to follow and give to others can be
found below. Similarly, anyone with these symptoms who has been in close contact with a confirmed case
in the last 14 days should follow the official advice from reputed hospitals.
It is important to remember that most people who become ill with respiratory symptoms at work are likely
suffering from a cold, the flu or other respiratory illness – not COVID-19.

COVID-19 is a new illness that can affect your lungs and airways. It's caused by a virus called coronavirus.
Symptoms of coronavirus
It can take up to 14 days for symptoms of coronavirus to appear. They can be similar to the symptoms of
cold and flu.
5
Document No: KAT-HSSE-Z-DOC-005 Developmental Housing Project of Saudi Arabia
80% will have mild illness and make a full recovery within a few weeks
14% will have a more severe illness
6% will have a critical illness
It’s important to practice social distancing and wash your hands properly and often.
To help stop the spread of coronavirus everyone has been asked to restrict your unnecessary movement.
Work in one place don’t collapsed with other workers and advice same for your colleague.
Testing
Treatment
At-risk groups:
There are some groups of people who may be at risk of serious illness if they catch coronavirus. This is
similar to other infections such as flu.
People in these at-risk groups immediately report to hospitals and Administrator should follow the case.
6
Document No: KAT-HSSE-Z-DOC-005 Developmental Housing Project of Saudi Arabia
Cocooning:
Cocooning means protecting people over 70 years of age, people who are extremely medically vulnerable
they should stay at home. If you are in one of these groups, you must take extra care to reduce
interaction with other people. Do not go outside your home and garden.
When you are pregnant, your body naturally weakens your immune system. This is to help your
pregnancy continue successfully. It means that when you are pregnant you may pick up infections more
easily.
All pregnant women should get medical advice even if staying in home.
Around the world, very few cases of coronavirus have been reported in children. Children can sometimes
get the virus. But they seem to get a milder infection than adults or older people do.
Children may also play a big role in spreading the virus. That’s why they should stay away from at-risk
groups, such as people over the age of 60. This is because older people, or people in at risk groups, might
have a harder time fighting the virus.
Site Worker must stay away from the kids when you are going to home from the offices.
No travel encourages.
Inform your site Manager and Administrator wait for emergency services.

Initial Notification:
Immediate Supervisors or project managers and Admin in the site has the responsibility to immediately report
any suspected cases of COVID-19, to the Katerra operation team.
Employees with initial symptoms of flu or respiratory track infection must stay at home and inform their
supervisors.
Site Admin and time keeper will ensure all employee are in the site, and temperature check will be monitored on the site by site HSE team
along with Admin team.
Self – Quarantine:
If the employees did not feel well, they should report to admin and he have to go to the hospital. If they
did not feel they can take official sick leave without doctor prescription.
Operation team and project manager should arrange appropriate place for the employees to take rest
separately and basic needs shall ensure.
Medical Arrangements:
Suspected workers should seek immediate medical attention if they become ill during the quarantine period
and call ahead of arriving and mention their travel or contact history.
Admin will send him to the hospital immediate if victim is serious ambulance will be called off.
HYGIENE PRACTICES:
For most scenarios, the health risk is low. Simple hygiene practices, similar to those used to protect
against the flu, can help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and other respiratory infections.
HAND SANTIZATION:
Provide hand washing facilities and make sure these are kept clean, properly stocked and in good working
order.
Provide alcohol-based hand sanitizer, tissues and cleaning supplies.
Workers should wash their hands frequently with soap and water or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
8
Document No: KAT-HSSE-Z-DOC-005 Developmental Housing Project of Saudi Arabia
Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue or flexed elbow when coughing or sneezing, dispose of tissues
immediately after use and wash your hands or apply hand sanitizer.
Avoid close contact with anyone who has cold or flu-like symptoms.
STAY HOME:
Encourage workers who are sick with respiratory illness to stay home until they are recovered.
CLEANING OF WORKPLACE:
Keep the workplace clean and hygienic. Regularly cleaning high-touch surfaces such as door handles and
workstations helps prevent contamination.
If someone becomes ill with respiratory symptoms at work, isolate them by placing them in a room or an
area away from others.
Arrange for the person to be sent home and advise them to seek medical advice. If they are very unwell,
call an ambulance.
If a worker is confirmed to have COVID-19, call 997 for advice. Inform co-workers about possible exposure
to COVID-19 but maintain confidentiality. Advise workers to seek immediate medical advice if they
develop symptoms or are concerned about their health.
WORK REMOTELY
Workers with flu like symptoms or with respiratory illness can be encouraged to work remotely.
PPE:
Surgical Mask or N95 Mask recommended for COVID 19 protection. Other will be used as per job task at
site.
Supply chain Is essential in the project site therefore only important goods and basic need will be
recommended to enter to the site, no entertainment will be allowed. Transport driver must stay in the
vehicle until goods or materials to be unloaded. He does not allow to roam in the site.

Coronavirus Travel Alert
Advisory
Summary of Coronavirus per the Centers of Disease Control & Prevention (CDC)
A novel (new) coronavirus is causing an outbreak of respiratory illness that began in the
city of Wuhan, Hubei Province, China. This outbreak began in early December 2019 and
continues to grow. Initially some patients were linked to the Wuhan South China Seafood
City (also called the South China Seafood Wholesale Market and the Hua Nan Seafood
Market). Chinese health officials have reported thousands of cases in the city of Wuhan
and severe illness has been reported, including deaths. Cases have also been identified in
travelers from Wuhan to other parts of China and the world, including the United States.
We expect more cases to be confirmed. Person-to-person spread is occurring though it’s
unclear how easily this virus is spreading between people at this time.
Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses. There are several known coronaviruses that
infect people and usually only cause mild respiratory disease, such as the common cold.
However, at least two previously identified coronaviruses have caused severe disease —
severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) coronavirus and Middle East respiratory
syndrome (MERS) coronavirus.
Signs and symptoms of this illness include fever, cough, and difficulty breathing. This
novel coronavirus has the potential to cause severe disease and death. Preliminary
information suggests older adults and people with underlying health conditions or
compromised immune systems may be at higher risk of severe illness from this virus. Many
characteristics of this novel coronavirus and how it may affect people are still unclear.
In response to this outbreak, Chinese officials are screening travelers leaving the city of
Wuhan. Several countries and territories throughout the world are reported to have
implemented health screening of travelers arriving from Wuhan or mainland China..
On arrival to the United States, travelers from Wuhan may undergo health screening,
including having their temperature taken and being asked to fill out a symptom
questionnaire. Travelers with signs and symptoms of illness (fever, cough, or difficulty
breathing) will have an additional health assessment. Travelers could be subject to potential
quarantine in China or the USA.
Travel
CDC reports that there could be limited access to adequate or Western medical care in
affected areas, so Katerra recommends the following:
• Travelers to avoid all travel to mainland China.

Coronavirus Travel Alert - UPDATE
Advisory
Summary of Coronavirus per the Centers of Disease Control & Prevention (CDC)
A novel (new) coronavirus, now called COVID -19, is causing an outbreak of respiratory
illness and has resulted in the deaths of approximately 3000 individuals to date. This
outbreak began in early December 2019 in China and continues to grow. Chinese officials
report that sustained person-to-person spread in the community is occurring in China. In
addition, other destinations have apparent community spread, meaning some people have
been infected who are not sure how or where they became infected.
Signs and Symptoms: This illness may include fever, cough, and difficulty breathing. This
novel coronavirus has the potential to cause severe disease and death. Preliminary
information suggests older adults and people with underlying health conditions or
compromised immune systems may be at higher risk of severe illness from this virus. Many
characteristics of this novel coronavirus and how it may affect people are still unclear.
Risk Assessment: The potential public health threat posed by COVID-19 is high globally,
but individual risk is dependent on exposure.
• For those who are unlikely to be exposed to this virus at this time, the immediate
health risk is considered low.
• Under current circumstances, certain people will have an increased risk of
infection, for example healthcare workers caring for patients with COVID-19 and
other close contacts of persons with COVID-19.
Travel
CDC reports that there could be limited access to adequate or Western medical care in
affected areas, so Katerra recommends the following:
• Travelers to avoid all travel to mainland China, Eastern Asia, South Korea, Japan, Italy
and Iran.

COVID-19 Information & Resources
Advisory
To: Katerra Prevention is key to avoid getting the Coronavirus, COVID-19. Katerra has pulled together
some information and resources to help us all do our part to get ready and stay healthy.
From: Security + Health,
Safety, Environmental, & Environmental Cleaning & Disinfection Recommendations
Quality Departments From the CDC, “There is much to learn about the novel coronavirus that causes coronavirus
disease 2019 (COVID-19). Based on what is currently known about the virus, spread from
person-to-person happens most frequently among close contacts (within about 6 feet). This
type of transmission occurs via respiratory droplets. Transmission of novel coronavirus to
persons from surfaces contaminated with the virus has not been documented. Transmission
of coronavirus in general occurs much more commonly through respiratory droplets than
through fomites. Current evidence suggests that novel coronavirus may remain viable for
hours to days on surfaces made from a variety of materials. Cleaning of visibly dirty surfaces
followed by disinfection is a best practice measure for prevention of COVID-19 and other viral
respiratory illnesses in community settings.”
The CDC has some useful tips on how to clean and disinfect, as well as some other detailed
links. Some highlights include the following:
• If surfaces are dirty, they should be cleaned using a detergent or soap and water
prior to disinfection.
• For disinfection, diluted household bleach solutions, alcohol solutions with at least
70% alcohol, and most common EPA-registered household disinfectants should be
effective.
• Protecting Your Home
• Interim Recommendations: Households with Suspected/Confirmed Cases
• Approved EPA Cleaning Products
