Q1) Have your expectations for the Industry Immersion Programme been met? Please
elaborate.

Yes, my expectations has been meet.Over the 20 weeks, I have been given various tasks
such as Bulky waste Removal service and data entry.Besides that, I was given many
opportunities to go on field trips and attend an exhibition. The most memorable field trip was
to Toa Payoh Bin Centres to explore the 3 types of bins namely: GOMIC, SG(Smart
Garbage) Bin and Pottinger. Before the field trip, I have seen many bins but I have no idea
what is it called and how is it being operated. However, after the field trip, I had a better
understanding of the bins and how is being operated. During the field trip, I cherish the
opportunity to take down notes when my supervisor was explaining so that I learn something
new.I have learnt so much from the field trip.

I also attended a 2 day Clean Enviro Summit Exhibition at Marina Bay Sands.I really enjoyed
the exhibition because it is my very first time attending an exhibition. The theme is Towards
Sustainable and Climate Resilient Cities and is divided into 5 key areas:Water as Resource,
Enhanced Hygiene Standards, Effective Pest Management, Sustainable Energy and
Pollution Control.Through this exhibition, I have learnt about the latest environmental trends
and meet environmental professionals and experts which also enhances my knowledge.

My supervisor also brought me to Someville Road and Braddel Road so that I can have a
look on how bin deployment such as installing recycling and refuse bins and replacing of
bins are done.

Overall, it has been a very memorable 20 weeks with 800 Super

Q3) State two difficulties you have encountered and how they were resolved.

1. Hesitant to ask questions

How it is resolved:I always tell myself if I am unsure I must ask the supervisor for
help so that I do not do the tasks wrongly. Also, when I ask the supervisor questions, I
am also learning as well

2. Too many information to absorb at a time

How it is resolved: Once the supervisor teach me new tasks, I make it a habit to write
it down in a notebook all the steps on how to do the various tasks so that it does not
go missing and I can refer to it anytime I want. This also makes me more organized
so that I know where to refer to.If I am not too sure or if I am confused what to do,
must ask supervisor to explain again or demonstrate what needs to be done.

Q4a) Please watch the following LinkedIn Learning Videos on Critical Soft Skills.

Reflect on how your internship stint will help you transit from school to work. What skills and
knowledge have you developed during internship that enhance your employability?

Q4b) Please watch the following LinkedIn Learning Videos on Being an Effective
Teammate and Maintain a positive attitude

Reflect on how your internship stint has helped you to understand about having good
work ethics and being a good team player that employers are looking for. Describe
the professional relationship and expectation between Employee and Employer.

Please log in to Linkedin Learning (LiL). If you did not receive the account activation email previously, please
write in to help-library@rp.edu.sg. You do not need to use the one-month trial.

You are only required to complete the short videos in each course, not the entire lesson.

4(a)My internship offers me the chance to put what I have learnt in school in a real working
environment.Internship has helped me to gain valuable job working experience, this is
especially true because I have no past working experience before but with this internship, it
helps me to explore the working environment. In internship, it also helps me to build my soft
skills such as communication and teamwork with colleagues and hence boost my confidence
as I learn to overcome work challenges. The skills and knowledge I have developed during
my internship are multi tasking and problem solving.During my internship, there are many
tasks given to me and I need to learn how to prioritize the tasks in order of importance as
well as juggle a few different tasks at once. I have encountered many challenges in my
internship so problem solving is about how to tackle challenges such as by asking,
researching and fixing errors all at once.

4(b)From my internship, I have understood the importance of working smart which means
using the most efficient way to complete tasks and finding ways to save time.At first, I made
many mistakes in my tasks but as my internship goes along, I have tried ways to do tasks as
productive as possible .Being punctual everyday is showing that I am responsible for my
actions and behavior. If I am going to be late or absent for work, I will always text my
supervisor so that he is informed.

The relationship between an employee and employer should be mutual and respectful. The
duty of an employer is to bring employee into organization, hence it is the utmost duty to
make comfortable and happy while at work. However, some employers wish to maintain a
distance with the employee in order to keep up with the two.It is entirely up to the employer
how he wants to treat his employee but there should also be strong bonds between the two
so that business goals are met.

health and possible risk controls(list according to hierarchy of

controls)

Hierarchy of controls:

1. Elimination(most effective)- Physically remove the hazards

2. Substitution-Replace the hazard

3. Engineering controls-Isolate people from the hazard

4. Administrative Controls-Change the way people work

5. PPE(least effective)-Protect the worker by putting on

Personal Protective Equipment

For housekeeping/area of cleaning:

Hazard: Skin irritation due to cleaning solution

Ill health: Skin diseases and rashes

Existing Risk Control:

 Use diluted cleaning solution(substitution)

 Steps on how to use cleaning solution(administrative

control)

 Put on gloves while performing cleaning works(PPE)

For unloading and loading of bins:

Hazard: Strike by falling bins

Ill health: Disability

Existing Risk Control:

 Use of power tail gate to bring down the bin from the
lorry(engineering control)

 Maximum loading 12 bins per stack(administrative control)

 Wear covered shoes(PPE)

For washing of bins:

Hazard: Slip and fall due to slippery floor

OFFICIAL (CLOSED) \ NON-SENSITIVE

Ill health: Head injury

Existing Risk Control:

 Flooring with anti-slip coating(Engineering Control)

 Wearing of anti-slip footwear(PPE)

For performing desk bound work:

Hazard: fatigue

Ill health: Back pain

Existing Risk Control:

 Use proper office chair(engineering control)

 Take a short 10 minutes break(administrative control)

-After coming up with existing risk controls, need to give a

score(1-5) for severity and likelihood

For severity:

1-Insignficiant

2-Minor

3-Moderate

4-Major

5-Catastrophic

For likelihood:

1-Rare

2-Unlikely

3-Possible

4-Likely

5-Most likely

-After giving a score for both severity and likelihood, need to

calculate the risk priority number(RPN) by multiplying the
severity and the likelihood together. The higher the RPN,the
higher the risk of activity is.If the RPN is 15 and above or

Centre @ Marina Bay Sands

-The theme is Towards Sustainable and Climate-Resilient Cities

-There are 5 key areas namely: Waste as Resource, Enhanced

hygiene standards, effective pest management, sustainable
energy and pollution control

-Waste as Resource:Through sustainable production and

consumption, and transforming waste into resources, advanced
and integrated waste management systems can be developed to
minimise land use while maximising resource recovery and
circularity. Both public and private sectors have to work together
to bring about a resource-resilient urban future

-Enhanced Hygiene Standards: Effective cleaning services are

essential to maintain a clean and liveable environment in both
developing and developed countries. Innovative solutions such
as robotics, artificial intelligence and enhanced cleaning
standards will improve cleaning efficiency and productivity.

-Effective Pest Management: In the digital economy, customers

needs and regulatory requirements are rapidly evolving,
requiring pest management companies to adopt new and
innovative methods to remain competitive

-Sustainable Energy:The demand for energy in an increasingly

carbon limited world has depleted resources at an accelerated
rate. There are numerous challenges such as accelerated rate to
decarbonise from issues of accountability to the trade offs of
using economic tools that drive carbon mitigation and
adaptation.Appropriate policies and low carbon technologies are
essential to promote energy efficiency and renewable energy

-Pollution control: Smart systems can increase pollution control

resources to deliver enhanced capabilities such as the real-time
