The moon is known as the satellite of the Earth that rotates on its own
axis and revolves around the Earth. It has no light of its own. It gets its light
form the sun.

What Is It
The moon is a satellite of the Earth. It rotates on its own axis while
revolving around the Earth. It does not have light of its own. It gets its light from the
sun.
When the moon is totally black it is called New Moon. In this phase, the moon
is not visible from the earth because the side of the moon that is facing us is
not being lit by the sun.
When part of the moon facing the Earth is all white it is called Full Moon. This
happen a week after the first quarter. The full moon appears as an entire
circle in the sky.
When small amount at the edge of the moon is lighted it is called Crescent
Moon. The moon is is less than half-lit. this is because the moon is between
the appearance of the quarter moon and new moon.
When more than half of the moon is lighted it is called Gibbous Moon. The
moon is between quarter moon and full moon.
When half of the moon is lighted at the right side and occurs first week of the
month it is called First Quarter Moon.
