Nurse: Good Afternoon Ma’am, I’m Student nurse Randolph from lyceum of the Philippines
university. What may I help you po?
Nanay: My son was bitten by a dog while he was playing with his cousin, kaya nagmadali agad
ako pumunta rito sa ER.

*ASSUME THAT WE GET THE HEIGHT AND WEIGHT OF THE PATIENT*

Nurse: Ma’am we will go to the bed and I will check for the wound and his vital signs po
(PROVIDE PRIVACY)

*Talk to the mother habang ginagamot yung sugat*

Nurse: Ma’am the moment you know that your child is bitten by the dog, what did you do with
his wound po?
Mother: I just washed it with soap and rush here in the emergency room miss.
Nurse: Ma’am is it his first time to be bitten by the dog or he have past vaccination of rabies?
Mother: No, It is his first time to be bitten and vaccinated with rabies.
Nurse: Ma’am where’s the dog po?
Mother: The dog is still in our backyard pa.
Nurse: Ma’am kindly observed the dog and if the dog dies it implicates that the dog has indeed
rabies virus.
Mother: Okay nurse, I will tell it to my husband who is at home right now.
Nurse: Ma’am did you know that it is a good choice that you have rushed here in the emergency
room because it is possible that we can prevent the rabies virus from escalating to the brain that
may cause fatality if not action as soon a possible.
Mother: Thanks God!

*After collecting all the data pupunta sa doctor*

Nurse: Doc, the patient’s wound is clean and not deep, what is the next thing to do po?
Doctor: Give the child a dosage of toxoid and tell the mother to comeback in March 3 for the
next dosage of the anti-rabies.
Nurse: Thank you doc! Noted.
*VACCINATION TIME*
Nurse: Ma’am we will give the first dosage of anti-rabies to your child, Ma’am can you cuddle
him to reduce his anxiety?
Mom: Masakit po ba yan? May side effects po ba yan?
Nurse: Yes, Ma’am pwede pong mamaga ng konti yung injection site pero tolerable naman po
iyon.

*Child crying during his vaccination*

Nurse: Sir sinong favorite super hero mo?
Patient: Si IRON MAN po
Nurse: Close your eyes, Isipin mo ako si Iron man at ililigtas kita ha!
Patient: sige po.

*Termination phase*
Nurse: Ma’am nag-order po si Doc for the next appointment. Sa March 3 po ay babalik kayo rito,
Hindi na po rito sa ER kundi sa may OPD na po. Tapos kapag po may nanyareng unusual sa
bata in a span of 48 hours ay bumalik po kayo rito sa Emergency Room. May mga nireseta rin
po si Doc na pampabawas sa sakit ng sugat ni sir po na maaring inumin ni sir kapag sumakit.
Nurse: Naiintindihan niyo po ba ma’am? Or may tanong po kayo?
Mommy: *Rerepeat yung sinabi ng nurse* Babalik po kami sa march for the next dosage of anti-
rabies
Nurse: Yes Ma’am
Mommy: and kapag may nanyareng unusual within 48 hours ay babalik kami rito sa ER
Nurse: Yes Ma’am, Thank you po! And Sir Get well po sainyo
