Math 2312 Test 1 Review

Students are responsible for reserving a seat for the test using schedule exams tab on CASA
BEFORE the first day of the test, while seats are available.
Plan to be at the testing center early. If this is your first time testing at CASA testing
center, they will need to do a finger print registration.
If you miss your scheduled test; check the scheduler to see if there are other available times; if
so, you can reschedule it. Your instructor does not control the scheduler; make sure you don’t
miss your reserved time.

When: By reservation – during testing window.

Where: Check your confirmation email; make sure you know the location of the testing
center before the test date.
What is covered: Chapter 4.

Number of Questions: Approximately 20.

Time allowed: 60 minutes

What to bring? Picture ID and writing utensils.

All questions are multiple choice; your grade will show up in the gradebook after you take the
test (sometimes it takes a while).

No calculators allowed during the test – study accordingly.

No formula sheets allowed; you can NOT have a copy of the unit circle while taking the test –
make sure you learn the unit circle.

How to study?
1) Make sure you understand the material covered on Chapter 4 lectures.
2) Solve ALL problems on this review sheet.
3) Take practice test 1. It is for practice AND extra credit. RETAKE PT 1 multiple times for
more practice. It will strengthen many skills that will be needed on the test. Practice Test 1 (NC)
will be available during the testing window for practice purposes; for extra credit you need to
take Practice Test 1 before the testing window.
4) Go over HW and online quizzes covering Chapter 4.

This review should not be your only source while studying for the exam. It covers most of the
“skills” you should be practicing, but it is not intended to be the only source.

KNOW THE UNIT CIRCLE!

Unit circle will not be provided; make sure you know it!

1 Math 2312 Test 1 Review

Here is a blank unit circle for you to practice filling it in. You will not be asked to fill in the
whole unit circle; you will need to answer questions regarding trig values of key angles from the
unit circle.
Homework: Fill in the unit circle; take advantage of symmetries!

KNOW TRIANGLE FACTS!
• The sum of the three angles of a triangle add up to 180° .

• If one side of a triangle is longer than another side, then the angle opposite the longer
side will have a greater degree measure than the angle opposite the shorter side. Biggest
angle faces the longest side; the smallest angle faces the shortest side.

• In a right triangle, hypotenuse is the longest side.

• Pythagorean theorem: 𝑎2 + 𝑏 2 = 𝑐 2

8. In tringle ABC, the sides have length 8, 15 and 17. If A is the smallest angle, find
cos(A) and tan(A).
