Initiation of projects
LAHMOTECH can handle minor and major projects. First of all, the projects are brought
to the company and the chief engineer evaluates and the financial terms concluded and project is
granted. The technical group is then assembled by the chief engineer and the details of the
project is explained to them. He then shares the project into subtasks and each division is
assigned a task accordingly. The head of division then plan their respective tasks and initiates it.
Products/ Competitors/Market
The company considering its domain of operation produces post agricultural machines,
wood working machines and fabricated machine parts. It also provides services in welding,
repair and maintenance of wood working and post agricultural machines and also automobile
parts. As a result of this, it competes with other mechanical fabrication workshops in town like
PRESTECH,” IRONMAN”
This report was focused mainly on acquiring practical skills in the fabrication and
manufacturing field, which is becoming one of the most advanced aspect of technology in the
world at large, and our country. My department was basically focused on the fabrication, repair
and maintenance of automobile parts, post-harvest argic, wood processing machine tools,
certified welding, fittings, boring, deicing and threading. This department is controlled by the
chief engineer.
Annually, LAHMOTECH does not only produce new machines but they modify already existing
machines to soot the needs of the users and to increase market opportunity.
I started my internship on the 31st of August which ran through out August to the 9th of October
during which I participated in building, repairing, replacement and maintenance of different
machines like the planning machine, mortising machine, grinding machines, etc. which helped to
increase self-employment as the machines produced can be easily operated by individuals with
no specialization.
1. To evaluate and compare theory and practical by participating and asking practical
questions
2. To gain experience in general problem solving, machining, drilling and welding.
3. To improve on my engineering drawing skills using a pencil and a paper with other
drawing instruments.
All the points stated above have a background knowledge of future theoretical lessons and
understanding in the field of fabrication and manufacturing.
Woodworking machine
A wood working machine is a machine that is intended to process wood. These machines are
usually powered by electric motors and used extensively in woodworking.
Types of woodworking machinery
Moulding machine
It is a stationary woodworking machine in which a vertically oriented spindle drives cutter heads
to mill profiles on wood stock.
It is called a moulder because it essentially moulds the shape by cutting away the excess wood
needed to reveal the profile. This process happends on all four sides of the board in one pass
through the machine.
The mouder receives pieces of dough from the intermidate proofer and shapes them into
cylinders ready to be placed in the pans. There are several types of moulders but all have 4
functions in common; sheeting, curling, rolling, and sealing.
The moulder is best suited for adding decorative touches to straight work such as custom room
trim and picture frames. The shaper, unlike the the molder, requires the mark v to set up the
vertical position.
Planer/moulder tools
The spindle is controlled by rise and fall mechanism operated by a hand wheel which determines
how much and where the cutter profile cuts the timber
MORTISING MACHINE
These are specialist woodworking machines used to cut square or rectangular holes(or
recesses) into a piece of timber.
