HYDROTEST (6A ) REVISION 00

SHEET 01 OF 3

1. SCOPE

The procedure defines the hydrostatic requirement. The testing shall be meet the requirement
of API Specification 6A, the latest edition.

2. REQUIREMENTS

2.1 All test shall be performed using calibrated equipment. Pressure measuring devices shall
be accurate to at least ±0.5% of full scale range.

2.2 The test media shall be cold tap water with or without additives.

2.3 Equipment shall be initially hydrostatic body tested prior to painting and the addition of
body filler grease. Retest or additional test may be performed without removal of paint.

2.4 Each bore of a multiple bore valve shall be individually tested.

2.5 Grease fitting are to have the caps removed prior testing.

3. TEST SPECIFICATION FOR HYDROSTATIC TEST

 HYDROSTATIC BODY TEST

3.1 The hydostatic body test shall be conducted with the valve in partially open position.

3.2 The hydrostatic test for each member shall consist of three parts.

(a) The primary pressure hold period 3 minutes.

(b) The reduction of the pressure to zero.

(c) The secondary pressure hold period 3 minutes.

3.3 Both pressure hold periods shall not less than three minutes, the timing of which shall
not start until the test pressure has been reach and the external surfaces of the body
members have been thoroughly dried.
3.4 The test pressure for any newly manufactured assembly is given in applicable standard.

3.5 The test pressure for any repaired or remanufactured assembly shall follow applicable
standard or Customer’s specification.

3.6 The minimum hydrostatic body test pressure shall be as shown below.
