Observation Result Report

On this occasion, I will give a report on the observations that I have made. A few days
ago, together with my group of friends, I made observations to MTS Negri 1 Banyumas, where
my group and I chose to make observations in grade 9, which is more specifically we did
Observation in the first hour is at 07.30 until 08.30.
From what I observed, the class was quite active and quite good at doing the first lesson.
In terms of the teacher's knowledge, I think he was good enough in teaching students. He greeted
students and then attended to students who were not present and also made the class perform
prayer activities before starting the lesson. In addition, the teacher also informs the competencies
or achievements that the teacher wants to achieve in the meeting that day. On that day the teacher
gave a lesson about drug prescriptions, and before starting and continuing to the core learning,
the teacher gave them a brainstorming first, starting with asking them what material they had
learned in previous meetings, the teacher also give light questions about what material will be
delivered by she.
Next, he delivered a lesson in which he used the media in the form of PowerPoint in
explaining the material in a good way with explanations which in my opinion were quite good
and clear. In addition, he also uses English mixed with Indonesian which in my opinion is also a
plus point where it will help and make students learn English little by little in explaining the
material. He also gave examples of the material he taught, namely from the prescription of
medicine he used the example in the powerpoint, but I think the sample is too small especially
for the LCD screen size which is not too wide and in one slide there are two examples. So in my
opinion, it is less effective and less good because the display that is displayed is very small. After
that, the teacher also gave questions to students by distributing worksheets that were distributed
in groups. So, students were asked to group up and do the assignments given by the teacher, and
I think the time given by the teacher was also enough for students to be able to work on the
questions the teacher gave. In addition, the teacher also gives a lot of attention to students when
students start working on the questions in groups. The teacher goes around and gives
opportunities to students if there is something they want to ask and the teacher also helps
students who have difficulty in answering these questions. When distributing groups to do the
task, in my opinion it is less effective where the MTS students sit in groups, the women are
usually the same as the women, the men are usually in a corner or in groups with the men. So in
that situation the teacher asks students to group with those behind them so there is a front and a
back. So for the group of male students, when they do the group assignments, they look less
active than the female students because it has become a habit in school when the boys are less
responsive or less responsive to learning. So, in my opinion, it would be better if the group could
be direct so that there would be no all-male group because it would be very ambiguous and
would be very less effective for an all-male group. However, it is also a positive thing because I
think that this way of grouping makes it easier for the teacher to divide the group so it is not too
complicated and only needs to rotate the body in front. As for what I got from the students, I
think they don't know much about vocabulary, so I think they have very little vocabulary and I
also find that when they do assignments. Instead of looking for it in the dictionary, they prefer to
ask the teacher, and I was also a little surprised to learn that today's children are no longer
required to bring an English dictionary into the classroom, especially for learning English. So, in
my opinion, this is a very unfortunate drawback because I know that they are already in junior
high school and they don't know basic vocabulary. For example, the vocabulary of the word
medicine. The teacher should also emphasize that MTS students are required to bring a
dictionary to learn English so that they get used to it and so that they memorize a lot of
vocabulary that they memorize which they master, even though in junior high school they have
just studied English lessons.
The results of the group work that students do are presented in front of the class. After
that, the teacher gives more precise answers and evaluates the results of the group work.
In addition to group assignments, the teacher also gave independent assignments to
observe about drug resrp. Gutu has also been good at assisting students in doing this assignment.
And I think the teacher has given enough time for students to think. In this independent task, one
of the students was asked to present their work. The teacher also gave a brief explanation again
regarding the material in the question, not forgetting that he also gave the opportunity to ask the
students if they were still confused.
Finally, there is a closing session. At this time the teacher closed by reviewing the
material that had been given earlier. The teacher closed the lesson using English which I think is
very good because the language is easy for students to understand.
