Midterm Examination in Ethics (GE8)

Second Semester, A.Y. 2021-2022

The country's constitutional system is being rolled over by political dynasties. There is
nothing more important than taking up too much space in releasing ourselves from
idealism and limitations that we can only use our voice to influence people in the
political battleground in enacting moral principles, but they have an empirical role in
enacting these norms because they are in the position of demonstrating moral citizenry.
Many of us have the responsibilities and obligations to push ourselves for the greater
good, especially those in the three branches of government who wield greater power,
which entails a high level of responsibility in terms of serving the people of the country
while complying with the core principles of good governance through implying the
Filipino virtue ethics, as a show of respect for our motherland.
The collective visions for a perfect society can be realized based on Plato and Aristotle’s
ethical systems, as moral people drive growth and progress. This month, the election
campaign started, and social media/digital network was pumped up to promote their
presidential and senatorial picks. Misinformation and disinformation abound on many
social media platforms, having a significant impact on the moral standards of those
who are media critical. Before we elect and choose a leader, let us explore the factors
that must be considered for collectivism to function effectively.
Whenever everyone particularly those who aspire to the highest positions, when
someone in a position of authority hears these words, they will realize, think, and
understand that maintaining a level of moral integrity is essential to supporting
collective efforts for a good standard of living. Moreover, may your voice as the
amplifier of the unnoticed, be repeated among those who claim to be educated. The
four cardinal qualities of wisdom, courage, temperance, and justice must lead your
authority with wisdom always preceding and controlling the other virtues. People will
be able to grasp the wisdom you should offer to them. The ultimate understanding of
achieving a good life, in such a way that you will be able to propound relevant and
important solutions to the very root of our country's problems, as well as the courage
to carry out your platforms in the most effective way possible, with righteousness and
fairness in interacting with inhumane treatment of the unfortunates and favoring the
legal system.
Plato also envisioned an ideal society, and every Filipino who hears these words wants
a better world where happiness may be achieved without fear. Similarly, Aristotle
emphasizes the significance of combining values for the soul, which is essential for the
effective construction of a higher quality of life.
Intellectual virtues, which are a product of moral virtues, are critical in disseminating
accurate information, according to Aristotle. As a result, when inept politicians adopt
these traits, they create a track that has meaning and purpose. Additionally, practice
Confucian ethics, which is founded on the five essential traits of compassion, ethical
example, and the path.
Politics is among the hottest topics in all forms of conversation worldwide, it is
unavoidable to discuss both its positive and negative aspects. Every politician has a
personal goal, which may or may not be for the greater interest of humanity. We the
Filipinos are already immune to this so political propaganda appears at every stage of
the election campaign when words of mouth and political power are used to bend the
truth. Filipinos are usually encouraged to do the most good by multiplying their efforts.
According to the pakikipagkapwa-loob concept, a person's inner self comprises
reasonable feelings and emotions, which eventually uncover the power of knowledge.
The moral virtues, as a product of reason, are made up of elements that coincide with
Plato and Aristotle's claims about the ethical system, namely validity, and relevance.
These Filipino virtue ethics prove that if you have these characteristics, you are a decent
person. The people are deceived into voting for the candidate that they believe deserves
their vote because the truth is prominent.
