Go-Around and Missed Approach Procedure

The Go-Around and Missed Approach Procedure must be performed when an approach
needs to be abandoned when below the missed approach altitude.

Announce “GO-AROUND”.
TO/GA switch................................................................................................................... Push
Go-Around Thrust ................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................ Check
Verify that the thrust increases.
Call “FLAPS 20”, as needed.
Flap lever ........................................................................................................... 20, if needed.
Go-Around Attitude .............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................. Check
Verify the rotation to go–around attitude.
Verify that the thrust is sufficient for the go-around or adjust as needed.
Verify a positive rate of climb on the altimeter and announce: “POSITIVE RATE.”
Verify a positive rate of climb on the altimeter and call: “GEAR UP.”
Landing gear lever .............................................................................................................. UP
At 400 feet radio altitude:
CAUTION: Limit bank angle to 15 degrees if airspeed is below minimum maneuver
speed for the existing flap.
Verify, select or call for a roll mode, as needed.
Select or verify the roll mode, as needed.
Missed Approach Track ....................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... Check
Verify that the missed approach route is tracked.
Verify that the missed approach altitude is set
At acceleration height:
Set the desired speed.
Flap retraction ................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... Perform
Retract flaps according to the flap retraction schedule.
After flap retraction is complete (or set to the planned flap setting) and at or above the flap maneuver speed:
FLCH or VNAV ................................................................................................................ Push
Thrust Limit .......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... Check
Verify that climb thrust is set.
