ILS Procedure:

The ILS Procedure is normally started at the IAF or the beginning of radar vectors.

Pilot Flying Pilot Monitoring

If on radar vectors:
Use HDG SEL and the Pitch mode as needed.
If enroute to a fix
Use LNAV or other roll mode and VNAV or other pitch mode.
Plan to intercept the localizer with Flaps 5 and at Flaps 5 speed.
Verify reduction to or set the desired speed.
Extend flaps according to the flap extension schedule.
When on localizer intercept heading:
ILS signal ............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................. Check
Verify that the ILS is tuned and identified; and
Verify that the LOC and G/S pointers are displayed in the proper position.
APP mode ......................................................................................................................... Arm

WARNING: When using LNAV to intercept the final approach course, LNAV might
parallel the localizer without capturing it.

Use LNAV, HDG SEL/TRK SEL or HDG HOLD /TRK HOLD to intercept the final approach
course as needed.
Announce: “LOCALIZER ALIVE”.
Localizer tracking ................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................. Check
Verify that the localizer is captured; and
Verify the final approach course heading is set on the heading selector.
At glideslope alive:
Announce: “GLIDESLOPE ALIVE.”
Call “GEAR DOWN, FLAPS 20”; and
Speedbrake lever........................................................................................................ ARMED
Landing gear lever .............................................................................................................. DN
Flap lever ............................................................................................................................. 20
At glideslope capture:
Call “FLAPS (25/30)”, as needed for landing.

Flap lever ........................................................................................................... Landing flaps

Missed approach altitude .................................................................................................... Set
Call for the “LANDING CHECKLIST”.
Do the LANDING CHECKLIST.
At the final approach fix:
FAF Crossing Altitude .......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... Check
Verify the crossing altitude on the altimeters. Be aware of the temperature deviation to the
standard atmosphere and its relation to the indicated altitude when following the Glide
Slope.
Announce: “APPROACH FIX, ____”.
Note: Announce the final approach fix altitude as depicted on the approach
procedure chart.
Announce: “CHECKED”.

WARNING: Interference with the glideslope signal can result in erroneous AFDS
pitch guidance indicated by FMA mode degradation, the AUTOPILOT caution
message, and removal of the F/D pitch bar. If this occurs, do a go-around unless
suitable visual references can be established and maintained.

Approach ........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... Monitor

Both pilots must monitor the approach. Call out any significant deviations. Perform an
immediate go-around if not within the criteria to continue the approach.
At 500ft radio altitude (if Autopilot is Engaged):
Autoland Status ................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... Check
Verify the autoland status.
Announce: “(LAND 3/LAND2/NO AUTOLAND)”.
Announce: “CHEKED”.
At 200ft radio altitude (if an ILS CAT3B is being conducted):
Announce: “ALERT HEIGHT”.
Announce: “CHEKED”.
If manual flight is required or desired:
Disengage the autopilot anytime when at or above the minimum altitude for autopilot.
