WHAT IS AN MUN ?

MODEL UNITED NATIONS (MUN) is an academic

simulation of the United Nations which aims to educate

participants in various fields revolving around current

events, international relations, diplomacy, and the

prevailing agendas of the UN. It is typically a conference

involving students role-playing as delegates representing

a nation, a specific profile or an organisation in various

UN committees. The agendas or topics taken up during

the MUNs are a reflection of the real-world issues

discussed by the United Nations, and range from general

topics such as rights of religious minorities to specific

topics such as improvement of accident safeguards

surrounding nuclear plants. The entire process and

discussion take place under formal ‘Rules of Procedure’

to truly model the format of the UN. Preparing and

participating in an MUN helps students develop skills

such as leadership skills, the ability to carry out extensive

research and public speaking, and problem-solving

skills.The amount of knowledge a conference gifts to its

participants is beautifully immeasurable. It encourages

the youth to adopt practical thinking and hence, polishes

the fast-approaching future of the world.

THE PARTNERSHIP

This global pandemic did not put a lid on the creative minds of the

unstoppable. Straying away from our typical MUNs, Zengage and

Socialist gave the MUN community virtual platforms to continue

this 70 year long simulation of the UN allowing students from

various domains of life to come together and hone their skills in

substantial researching, public speaking, debating, critical thinking,

teamwork and leadership abilities.

Both the conferences were immensely successful with a turnout of

more than 200 delegates each with over six committees that not

only included conventional simulations like the General Assembly

and All India Political Parties Meet but also comprised of

unconventional committees like, Harry Potter, Lucifer, La Casa De

Papel and a Midnight Crisis committee. Now they are

collaborating to present ‘GenSoc Model United Nations ,2020’.

Socialist MUN was recognized by the UN Secretary

General-António Guterres for their overly successful

endeavour.

Zengage Model United Nations received a ratification

letter from Dr. Harsh Vardhan applauding their

stupendous effort.

Participation in Model UN fosters in students an amalgamation of a

multitude of valuable skills like debating, negotiating, communicating etc.

In addition, crisis committees that deal with crisis scenarios, which can be

contemporary or historical, develop leadership skills and the ability to

adapt and deal with unexpected situations. Material issues

of  diplomacy  and  policy  are approached through a quasi-academic

process which provides a medium for students to research and deliberate

over the potency of the various critical issues faced by the world.It is

imperative that we don’t let the pandemic deter us.

So, Socialist MUN and Zengage MUN present to you our collaborative

venture ‘GenSoc MUN 2020’. Through this endeavour we hope to provide

the talented students of your institution a platform to evolve their

personalities and extend their horizons. Since growth can never be a linear

concept, it gives us immense pleasure to stimulate this virtual platform of

holistic growth and development with the same spirit even in this crisis.

We firmly believe that participants from your school will explore the

unexplored facets of critical global issues and showcase their skill and

understanding through concrete dialogs. We look forward to an

enthusiastic presence of delegates from your esteemed institution for this

grand event.

Noor Foundation India is an organisation which

believes in reducing the social stigmas of the
society through small acts of kindness and by
creating awareness.

KANCHAN MEHRA FOUNDATION

The Kanchan Mehra Foundation is involved in

work associated with social welfare, human rights
issues and advocacy. Its aim is to promote social
change for the betterment of the society on a
large scale, with special emphasis on women
empowerment. One of its main objectives is to
combat gender discrimination and violence
against women.

1. Extensive promotional activities on our social media platforms via

a collaboration post.

2. The Principal and a representative teacher will get the chance to

attend our opening/closing, ceremony.

3. An open forum to address the audience in the opening/closing

ceremony to carry out promotional activities.

4. Certification for school delegation.

5. The logo of your school will be added on the certificates of

participation and merit.
