SUBJECT: AVAILABILITY OF SOLAR’S SERVICE BULLETINS

This revision changes the procedure for acquiring access to
service bulletins. Service bulletins are no longer available on CD.

Purpose:
To explain the procedure for acquiring Service Bulletins.

GENERAL INFORMATION:
Solar issues Service Bulletins on an as-required basis to inform users of operation and maintenance
issues, safety information, and product and reliability improvements. These Service Bulletins are
published electronically and on paper and distributed to effected users. In addition to email and pa-
per copy distritributions, Solar has annually issued CDs, since 1995, containing all service bulletins
issued since 1976. In order to conform with corporate information protection guidelines, Solar is
discontinuing the issuing of CDs containing Service Bulletins. Solar is now offering access to Ser-
vice Bulletins via the Internet, and instructions to gain access are presented in this bulletin. The
electronic and paper copies will continue to be issued to alert effected customers of specific issues
until further notice.

RECEIVING NEWLY ISSUED SERVICE BULLETINS
If you are not already receiving Service Bulletins for the products you own, please contact Solar
through the “Contact Us” tool on our website, www.solarturbines.com, or contact your local So-
lar District Service Office and request that you be put on distribution for your specific products.
Please include package serial numbers for the products you own. Though paper distribution can be
provided, email is the preferred medium for Service Bulletin distribution. It is the most expeditious
and efficient way to keep up to date with issues regarding your equipment.

ACCESS TO PREVIOUSLY ISSUED BULLETINS FOR YOUR EQUIPMENT


Three steps are necessary to obtain access to Service Bulletins on the Internet or World Wide Web:

• Access
• Registration
• Authorization

ACCESS

• Acquire an internet connection of the highest speed available through the most reliable
provider available. This will prove to be an obvious asset when downloading information
from Solar’s website.
• Select Microsoft’s Internet Explorer as your browser. Displayed information may be
incomplete or disfunctional if other browsers are used.
• Locate Solar’s website at www.solarturbines.com. This site provides a means of access
to general information including product and service overviews, worldwide locations,
technical training schedules and other literature.

REGISTRATION

• For access to additional information such as: Product Data Sheets, Case Studies, the Gas
Fuel Suitability Analysis tool, as well as selecting the option for having much of this
information emailed to you, please click on the Registration tab located at the top left
portion of the screen and follow the instructions to register. You will be requested to read
and accept Solar’s Privacy Policy, enter basic contact information into an online form,
and choose a unique username and password. After completing and submitting the form
you will be a registered eSolar user. Upon future visits to the site, simply login with your
username and password in the appropriate boxes provided at the top of each screen (Figure
1). You will immediately have access to the additional information.

AUTHORIZATION

• If you own Solar equipment, have registered on the website and would like online access
to information relevant to your equipment including Service Bulletins, Operation and
Maintenance Manuals, equipment photographs as well as a performance curve tool, please
request “authorized” access by contacting your nearest Solar District Service Office.
Among other items, you will be required to provide the model and serial numbers of
your equipment. A formal submission with detailed information will be sent to our main
office where it will be reviewed in order to provide authorization that is particular to your
product ownership. Please allow two weeks for full authorization and subsequent email
notification.

NOTE
Search tools will only be functional for the products that you have been au-
thorized for. If you purchase a product that differs from the others that you
have been authorized for, your authorization must be resubmitted in order
for your web privileges to be modified appropriately. For some older equip-
ment and information, the message, “no records found”, may be displayed
due to lack of any data available electronically. If you are in need of further
