Start by being specific and direct when criticizing someone. Being straightforward and direct
would avoid any confusion or offending anyone. Not being specific would make others get the
wrong idea of what you are truly saying. It is best to be specific so that the person’s effort will
not go to waste. Pointing out the positive aspects of the argument is also a good way to boost
their confidence and point out their good intentions. Offering some suggestions and ideas for
their opinion or argument would also help them.

B. Watch commercials on TV and news and take note of the fallacies committed.

1. In your relationship with your family, what common fallacy or
fallacies you commit as an alibi for any wrongdoing? Narrate at
least two occasions.
a) If my mother asks me why the room or house is messy I would
blame our dog for being littering the house when in fact I was
the one responsible for it but chose to ignore it.
b) When I was younger I used my feet when turning my brother’s
computer, but it suddenly won’t turn on. When my parents
confronted me about it I denied it until the end.
2. Do you think Fallacy can help us in finding the truth? Why or
why not?
-Yes, because understanding fallacies can helps us evaluate
credibility of messages, sources and appeals.
3. What methods of philosophizing do you think are most useful
in finding the truth? Explain?
I think that the analytic method is the most useful in finding the truth
because philosophical problems can be solved through an analysis of
their terms, and pure, systematic logic.
