COMMENTS: Planning, Instruction, Assessment of Student Understanding

Miss Madigan:

Your incorporation of technology remains impressive. The dual screen coupled with digital access to guided notes,
assessments, hooks, exit tickets, etc. allows you to effectively cover content. I appreciate that you are using real life
content in your stats lessons to engage students and include them in mathematical discussions. Feel free to push the
gang to estimate solutions/approaches prior to tackling a specific problem – estimation is powerful in developing
conceptual understanding in mathematics.

Feel free to produce a quick reference guide for ‘Box Plot Creation’ that the gang can use at any time they need to
create the plot. Also remind them that Box Plots are perfect for quickly representing the spread of the data and giving
you a sense of how the data is organized (tails, skew, etc.)

Continue to use your Guided Practice to allow small time intervals to complete problems individually and then provide
you with a solution. Push the gang to interpret data sets to determine if the have a feel for what the describes. Great
start to your Q4 placement.
