I. Objectives:

This lesson is designed to lead the students to:

a. define social change; and


b. create a collage that illustrates the two important processes by which societies change

II. Subject Matter: Understanding Social Change

1. Motivational Activity: Film Viewing: "Father & Son" (SMART Ad)

4. Generalization: "Social change is the transformation of a group, organization,


community, or society from one form to another. The
transition may
be from a simple to a more complex one, or from a primitive to a
highly industrialized society. The different stages in societal progress
naturally bring about corresponding lifestyles, attitudes, and value-
oriented ways of living."

I. Objectives:

This lesson is designed to lead the students to:

a. describe the distinct personalities of the 2016 Philippine presidential candidates (Binay,
Duterte, Poe, Roxas, and Santiago) based on their personal perception;
b. explain the platform of each candidate based on his/her political propaganda; and
c. create a profile of the five (5) presidentiables

II. Subject Matter: Political Personalities

Materials:

pentel pen, coloring materials, manila paper, old magazines and/or newspapers, video clips

III. Procedure:

3. Review: What is social change?

B. Presentation
1. Motivation: Showing of pictures of the five 2016 presidential candidates

2. Group Activity: The class will be divided into five (5), each group will represent one
candidate. Every member of the group has to share his/her perception about the
presidentiable (of the group) based on their research focusing on the
candidate's
distinct personality and his/her political platform.

3. Discussion:
(a) What have you discovered about your candidate?
(b) What are his/her positive and negative attributes?
(c) What is the nature of his/her platform? Do you agree with his/her
views?
(d) Given the chance to interview your candidate, what are some of the
questions you may possibly ask him/her?
(e) How would you describe your candidate in one word?

4. Generalization:
Scrutinizing the personality and platform of those who are running for a key
position in our country is essential for us to make a more meaningful and prudent decision in
selecting our political leaders.
