 Something is symmetrical when it
is the same on both sides.
 A shape has symmetry if a centr
al dividing line (a mirror line)
can be drawn on it, to show tha
t both sides of the shape are ex
actly the same.
Reflectional symmetry or Bilateral symmetry
 when a line can be drawn to divide the shape int
o halves so that each half is a reflection of the ot
her.
 That line is called the line of symmetry. A shape
may have more than one symmetry lines of sym
metry. (vertical, horizontal, diagonal)
Rotational symmetry
 when it is rotated around a center point a number o
f degrees it appears the same.
 In other words when the shape still looks the same a
fter some rotation of less than one full circle (360 de
grees).
Radial symmetry
 (a kind of rotational symmetry) means that a cone or
disk shape is symmetrical around a central axis. Starfi
sh, sea anemones, jellyfish, and some flowers have r
adial symmetry.
