RESPIRATORY SYSTEM
WEEK 1
August 16, 2021-August 21, 2021

Submission Date: August 23, 2021

I. INTRODUCTION
The Respiratory System is the network of organs and tissues that help you breathe. It includes your airways,
lungs, and blood vessels. The muscles that power your lungs are also parts of the Respiratory System. These parts
work together to move oxygen throughout the and clean out waste gases like carbon dioxide.
For the weeks one (1) and two (2) you are going to examine the close interaction between the structures of the
Respiratory and Circulatory Systems, which help transport oxygen, nutrients, antibodies, and hormones to the different
parts of the body. Also you are going to know the different diseases and disorders of the Respiratory and Circulatory
Systems, how it is detected, prevented, and treated.

II. UNIT TOPIC

A. RESPIRATORY SYSTEM
1. Parts and Function of Respiratory System
2. Prevention, Detection, and Treatment of Diseases of the Respiratory System
III. CONTENT STANDARDS
The learners demonstrate understanding of:
1. how the different structures of the circulatory and respiratory systems work together to transport oxygen-rich
blood and nutrients to the different parts of the body and;
2. the prevention, detection, and treatment of diseases affecting the circulatory and respiratory systems.

IV. PERFORMANCE STANDARD

1. The learners should be able to conduct an information dissemination activity on effective ways of taking care of the
respiratory and circulatory systems based on data gathered from the school or local health workers.

V. LEARNING COMPETENCIES
1. Identify the different parts of respiratory system and describe the function of each part.
2. Infer how one’s lifestyle can affect the functioning of respiratory system.

 Parts and Function of Respiratory System – pages 5-11
 Prevention, Detection, and Treatment of Diseases of Respiratory System – pages 12-18.
2. Handouts are attached for more information.
3. This is a one week activity worksheet. Make use of the time to answer it properly.
4. Don’t forget to write your name and submit only your answered worksheets.

IV. ESSAY
Exemplify the following in not less than three (3) sentences.
1. Why do you need to breathe?
Not only does breathing provide your body with necessary oxygen, but it also rids the body of waste like
carbon dioxide. To get rid of carbon dioxide, your blood delivers it to the capillaries surrounding your alveoli.
In the alveoli, the carbon dioxide moves into the lungs, where it leaves the body when you
exhale.___________________________________________

2. How can respiratory problems be avoided?

Don't smoke, or quit smoking. Avoid secondhand smoke. Try to reduce your exposure to pollutants in the
environment, at work, and in your home. Exercise
