Transcript of So, if you suspect child abuse or neglect, who do you call? Every county in California has their own 24 hour hotline (see handout on the course page for a full list) – remember, you should always call the county
where the child lives or where the abuse occurs, which may differ from your own home county. In addition to calling, a written report must be turned in within 36 hours. Every county in California uses the same
audio: template (one is provided on the course page) but each county has a unique fax number or e-submission method. Please be sure to confirm with the local hotline for their preferred method for submitting the
report. The call and report are due “as soon as possible”, no longer than 36 hours after the child has spoken to a mandated reporter.
