Grammar : Pronouns
1. Pronouns are words that take the place of a noun.
Example :

1. My father works hard. He works in a factory.

2. Laila is my sister. She is twelve years old.

2. Look at the list of pronouns below.

II. Grammar : To Be
Be : Is, Am, Are
Use “be” can be followed by nouns, adjectives and prepositional phrases. Pay attention to the
following table to understand the use of be.
Subject Be Example
(+) My cat is cute. (subject + be + adjective)
(-) My cat is not cute. (subject + be + not + adjective)
He/ She/ It/ Singular is (?) Is my cat cute? (be + subject + adjective ?)
- Yes, it is.
- No, it is not.
(+) I am a student. (subject + be + noun)
(-) I am not a student. (subject + be + not + noun)
I am (?) Am I a student? (be + subject + noun ?)
