Practical project

Objective:
For this task, students are required to demonstrate the initial steps at an emergency
scene and putting a casualty into the recovery position.

Note: This project requires a practical demonstration. Teachers and students should
take appropriate COVID-19 precautions, such as wearing face masks and using hand
sanitiser.

Students must include the following points:

• Demonstrate how to check for a response from a casualty (1 mark), verbally


describing how it is done (1 mark)
• Demonstrate how to open the airway and check for breathing (2 marks), verbally
describing each step (2 marks)
• Demonstrate the 7 steps of the recovery position (7 marks), verbally describing
each step (7 marks)

Teachers may award up to 5 marks for student effort, creativity, presentation and
participation.
