What is gender
inequality?
Gender inequality is Discrimination on the basis of sex or gender causing one
gender to be usually privileged or prioritized over another. It can be seen
within the division of jobs, classroom activities, freedom of expression,
ownership, and many more. Gender inequality refers to the differences
between genders in terms of status, power, wealth, health, and employment.
When these differences are avoidable and unfair, it is known as gender
inequity.
Gender inequity is the product of sexism, which is prejudice or discrimination
against people based on their sex or gender. It primarily impacts women and
girls, with consequences that begin at birth.

Equality?
Gender equality is when people of all genders have equal
rights, responsibilities and opportunities. Everyone is affected
by gender inequality - women, men, trans and gender diverse
people, children and families. It impacts people of all ages and
backgrounds.
We need gender equality urgently. Gender equality prevents
violence against women and girls. It’s essential for economic
prosperity. Societies that value women and men as equal are
safer and healthier. Gender equality is a human right. Everyone
benefits from gender equality.

EFFECTS
Gender inequity has serious and long-lasting consequences
for women and other marginalized genders. Exposure to
violence, objectification, discrimination, and socioeconomic
inequality can lead to anxiety, depression, low self-esteem,
and PTSD.
