Pool (Men & Women)
Size of team

• Men’s Team - Minimum 5 Players and maximum 7 Players

• Women’s Team - Minimum 2 Players and maximum 4 Players

Format of game

• Only “8-ball pool” will be played. Other Cue Sports are not part of this competition

Men’s Team:

• There will be 3 singles and 2 Doubles matches. One player can play a maximum of 2 matches, one singles,
and one doubles (not 2 singles or 2 doubles). Hence, the same team cannot play both the doubles matches.

• Each match of the men’s games will be best of 5 frames.

Women’s Team:

• There will be 2 singles and 1 Doubles matches. One player can play a maximum of 2 matches, one singles,
and one doubles (not 2 singles)

• Women’s singles matches will be best of 3 frames.

Order of the games will be decided mutually by the playing teams on the spot. If there is disagreement then all
doubles matches will be played first, followed by the singles matches. The order of play of the players in the games
will be pre-decided by the participating teams and submitted in writing to the referee/host coordinator before
match start.

If tournament is tied – total number of frames won will be counted. If the total number of frames won is tied – the
net ball difference at frame win will be counted. If the net ball differences are tied – both teams will be awarded
same position.

Equipment to be used

• Teams can use their own Cue Sticks and Chalk.

• Cue sticks can be provided to teams on request.

• No other equipment like extension-butt, rest, spider, or long-extensions are allowed

General playing rules

• Player must call pot-pocket or safe on each shot except if it is a break shot.

Break:

 Match begins with ball-in-hand behind the head string for Player A
 No ball is called, and the cue ball is not required to hit any specific object ball
 If the breaker player A pockets an object ball and does not foul, they continue at the table, however the
table remains “open”.
 If no object ball is pocketed on break, at least four object balls must contact the rails or the shot results in an
illegal break, and the opponent B has the option of:
o Accepting the table in the current position, OR

o Force Player A to continue the game in the current table position OR

o If cue ball is pot during the break – then opponent B can place the cue ball on or behind the headline and
play in the long direction. OR

o Opponent B forces a re-break. In which case the opponent B can choose to take the break themselves or
make Player A break again.

o If Player A pockets 8 ball on the break, they win the frame.

Legal Shot

• There should be no more than one contact between the cue stick and cue ball in a single shot. A multi-
contact shot is considered a foul shot.

• If the cue-ball is already in contact with an object ball before the shot – then standard cue-ball kiss rules
apply.

• In every legal shot there must be at least:

 One contact with a rail (either the object ball or the cue ball). Potting a ball is considered as contact with the
rail for the object ball that is pot. OR
 It should be a cannon shot (the cue ball contact at least 2 object balls or one contact between cue ball and
object ball plus subsequent contact between first object ball and any ball on the table).
 Any shot other than these types is considered a foul
• The movement of any ball on the table should originate due to the contact between the cue tip and cue ball
leading to object ball. Any ball moved or contacted otherwise would lead to a foul shot. This includes contact with
clothing, hair, stick shaft, hands, chalk, or any other external object. If there is an external object on the table during
a shot and the movement of the balls is modified due to the object – it is considered a foul shot.

• If an opponent’s ball is pocketed off a legal shot, it is not a foul. If the player pots his own ball in the called
pocket and pots the opponent’s ball in any pocket – the player continues playing since he has legally pot his ball.

• If the Player A fouls when Opponent B has only the 8-ball remaining on the table – then Player A loses the
frame.

• If the 8-ball is pot by any player A before finishing potting all their 7 balls – the player A loses the frame. This
is termed as “sudden-death”.

• If player A pots his 8-ball legally and also pots an opponent ball – it is considered a legal shot and Player A
wins the frame.

• If Player A fouls while potting his 8-ball while the opponent B has their balls remaining on the table, it is
considered a normal foul except in the following case which is that if Player A pots his cue ball while potting his 8-
ball – then Player A loses the frame.
• Before beginning the next shot, or before picking the cue ball in case of a foul, or in the case of a frame win
– the cue ball must first completely stop. Violation of this is a foul shot.

Making the Choice:

• To decide a group (stripes or solids), a player must pocket a ball in a legal shot.

• If in such a shot, first contact of cue ball is with a stripes ball and eventually a solids ball is pot (or vice versa)
– the table is still considered open, but the player continues his turn to pot the next ball which can be either solids or
stripes since table is open.

In event of a foul:

• If table is “open” or if the opponent B of the fouling player A has not legally pot any of their balls yet – the
opponent B has 2 choices:

1. Start playing from the position in which Player A has left the cue-ball on the table (in case it is not a scratch)
OR;

2. The cue ball will be placed on or anywhere behind the headline and the shot played should be towards the
long end of the table

• In any other events of foul by Player A, there will be a ball-in-hand for opponent B and the cue ball can be
placed anywhere on the table.

7-top:

• If a player A pots all his balls while opponent B has not pot any of their balls legally, then Player A wins the
frame without needing to pot the 8-ball.

• If a player commits a foul while potting his 7th ball, the opponent gets ball-in-hand and can take a shot from
anywhere on or behind the headline. If the opponent fails to pot a ball, he loses the match.

Spectator Protocol:

• Spectators must be seated throughout the event and not approach the Pool / Snooker table at any time
during play.

Frisbee (Mixed)

Frisbee matches will be conducted in a League plus Finals format. Each Team will play 3 league matches with the
finalists being decided based on the following points system.

 A winning team will get 5 points during the league matches.

 When the match ends in a tie, then both teams get 2 points each.
 If the teams have the same points after the end of the league matches, then the team for the finals will be
selected based on the higher points difference ( Total Number of Points Scored in League Matches – Total
Number of Points Conceded in League Matches).
Basic Rules:
 Team Composition: 7 active players (5 Boys + 2 Girls) on the field with a maximum 120 size squad (12
Boys + 8 Girls).
 The duration of the match is of 50 minutes, divided equally into two halves of 25 minutes each along with
5 minutes intervals between the two halves.
 2 time-outs of 1 minute per team will be allowed in a match
 The Pull: Each point starts with a throw-off from the goal line (“pull”). All players just remain in their end
zone until the Frisbee pull is thrown. At the start of the game a toss decides which team throws the first
pull. After a goal is scored, play stops. The team that scores stays in the end zone and throws the pull and
becomes the defensive team. So, teams change their direction of attack after each point. If the pull lands
outside the playing field the thrower can either start play from the side line where the disc left the field,
or from the front of the end zone.
 In-bounds and Out-bounds: A disc is in-bounds when the receiving player is inside the playing field when
they catch the disc. If you catch the disc after jumping in the air, your first point of contact must land
inside the field. The side lines are not part of the playing field. If you catch the disc in-bounds and then
momentum takes you out of bounds, you must return to where you left the field before you can throw
the disc. You can throw the disc so that it flies outside the playing field and then comes back in, if it does
not touch anything out-of-bounds and is caught inside the field. If the disc goes out-of-bounds, it is a
turnover. It does not matter which team last touched the disc. Play continues from the spot where the
disc left the field.
 No running with the disc: You are not allowed to run while you have possession of the disc (“travel”).
After catching the disc while running, you must stop as quickly as possible. Once you stop, you must keep
one foot still, but you can move the other foot: this is called pivoting.
 The 10-second rule: The thrower has 10 seconds to throw the disc. A defender can stand in front of you
(remember: no contact!) and count aloud to ten in one second intervals. If the disc is still in your hand
after 10 seconds, the other team gets possession of the disc.
 Turnovers: The defensive team takes possession of the disc (a “turnover”) if the offense fails to catch a
pass, if they catch it out-of-bounds, or if it is intercepted or knocked down by a defensive player.
Turnovers also occur when:
 The maker reaches “ten” before the disc was thrown
 The disc is handed from one player to another without being thrown
 The thrower catches their own throw without the disc being touched by anyone else
 The offensive team tries to catch the pull, but drops it
 After an in-bounds turnover the other team may immediately resume play at the point where the
disc was caught or stopped

Fouls, Violations and Infractions:

 Ultimate is a non-contact sport. Physical contact should always be avoided.
 Contact that is dangerous or affects the outcome of the play is a Foul.
 The thrower may not be defended by more than one player at the same time (“double team”).
 The marker may not come closer than one-disc diameter to the thrower (“disc space”).
 The marker cannot hit or grab the disc out of the hand of the thrower. They may however try to block the
disc with their hands or feet after it is thrown.
 If opposing players catch the disc at the same time, the offensive player gets possession of the disc.
 Players are not allowed to create shepherds, picks or screens to obstruct the path of defensive players
(“pick”).
 Making a call: If you believe an opposing player has fouled you, you can call “foul”. If the disc is in
the air, play continues until possession is established (a catch or a turnover). If your team gets
possession, they play continues, otherwise, play stops immediately. After play stops, explain what
the foul was and discuss this with the other player involved. If the opponent disagrees that there
was a foul, they may call “contest” and the disc is returned to the previous thrower. It they agree
that there was a foul, they call “uncontested” and, generally, you take possession of the disc. Play
is resumed with a “check”: the marker touches the disc in the thrower’s hand and calls “disc in”.
 Scoring: You score a goal if you catch the disc in the end zone that you are attacking. If you are in
the air, your first point of contact must be in the end zone. If your foot touches the goal line it is
not a goal. After a goal, play stops and team swap which end zone they are defending. The first
team to 13 goals wins, with a time cap of 50 minutes. If teams are not able to score 13 goals,
whoever is leading at the end of 50 minutes wins. If there is a tie, teams play for universal point.
 Substitution of players: After each point, you may substitute as many players as you want.
During a point a player may only be substituted due to an injury. After an injury, play stops and
the other team may also substitute a player, if they wish.

Spectator Protocol:
 Spectators will remain outside the field of play during the match.
 Spectators will not enter the field of play until the match is called as completed by the referee(s).
 It shall be an offence for a team if their supporters are found guilty of throwing objects at team players or
officials during the game. Under these circumstances, the referee may, at his discretion, choose to
abandon the match. When a match is abandoned due to objects being thrown onto the field of play, by a
team’s supporters, the offending team shall forfeit the match points.

ii. Men’s Singles

In case there is a tie between 2 teams, their head to head result will be used as a tie-breaker.
Alternatively, tie-breaker can be decided by playing dead rubbers if agreed by all teams.
 Each team will have to submit the names of the players in the order of their seeding before the start of
the tournament.
 Entry to court will not be permitted without non-marking shoes
 The break between points can maximum be of 20 seconds, and the break between games can maximum
be of 150 seconds.
 The order of players proposed to play particular games will have to be pre-decided and submitted to
Organizing Committee before the beginning of the fixture and cannot be changed thereafter.
 Breaks / Time-outs will not be allowed during the game. Only drinks can be taken while the game is on.
 Teams will get 2 points for winning each fixture, 0 points for losing and 1 point in case of no result. In
case of teams having the same number of points in the league table, 'matches won minus matches lost'
will be taken into account. If that is equal too, the number of 'games won minus games lost' and then
'points won minus points lost' will be used as a differentiator.
 Teams are expected to bring their own racquets.
 The referee’s decisions will be final and abiding.
 Each team will have to refer a maximum of two other fixtures.
 The match-ball will be double yellow dot.
 All other standard Squash rules apply.
