UNIVERSITY WEEK 2023


GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR SPORTS EVENTS

I. PARTICIPANTS
The participants shall be composed of five teams, namely, College of
Education, Arts and Sciences (CEAS) Black Manta Rays, Business College (BC)
Red Lions, College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology (CEAT) Orange
Foxes, Colleges of Health Sciences (CHS) White Wolves, and Senior High
School (SHS) Yellow Tamaraws.

II. ELIGIBILITY OF PLAYERS AND PARTICIPANTS


1. Players must be a bona fide student of Notre Dame of Dadiangas University
and are currently enrolled in the Second Semester of School Year 2022 –
2023.
2. Official Members of the Varsity Team (Sports) from the Senior High School
and College Department who have participated in the 2022 Local,
Regional, and National PRISAA MEET are ALLOWED to play in their
respective sports for the academic year 2022-2023.
3. However, they (varsity players) must not reach beyond forty percent
(40%) of the population of the whole team inside the court and for the
whole roster.
a. Only one (1) National PRISAA Player is allowed to play per
quarter/set.

III. TEAM COMPOSITION


The number of players who will compose each team, The minimum number
of players, and maximum number of varsity players per category are provided
below:

SPECIFIC GUIDELINES FOR SPORTS EVENTS

1. Only the Official Coach assigned to the sport event is allowed to accompany
the players in the benches (Note: The official coach must be a college
officer, team captain, and/or a Regional/National PRISAA Athlete.
NOTE: Only the people mentioned above can ask and/or raise concerns to the
SSG sports heads).
2. All players must wear the current (University Week 2023) official uniform
required for the event where they are to participate/play. The front side of the
upper garment shall specifically bear the college name and Jersey number,
and the back side shall bear his/her surname and corresponding number.
NOTE: Handwritten surname, number and college name attached to the
uniform shall not be allowed. The use of masking tape to replace the prints
in the uniform shall not also be allowed.
a. The color of the jersey of each team must bear the dominant color of
their respective departments.
b. The color of the jersey worn by the soccer goalkeepers and volleyball
liberos must be in contrast with the color of the official design.
c. In honor of the 75th Diamond Jubilee of Notre Dame, The logo of the
75th Diamond Jubilee must be included in their college jerseys indicated
below the nape area of the Jersey.
d. Drafting new design will be optional, thus Intramurals 2022 jerseys worn
will still be allowed. (Note: If a college - department chose to draft a new
design make sure that the college - department submits their new design
during the initial screening.)
3. Only the Players submitted in the Official Gallery in their specific sport events
are allowed to participate. Hence, the players are only allowed to participate
in one (1) sports event.
4. The official time scheduled for the game events shall be strictly followed.
a. A Five (5)–minute defaulting time shall be imposed. A team must be able to
meet the minimum number of players before the said defaulting time. If both
teams fail to meet the minimum number of players in the said defaulting time,
a ten (10)-minute grace period will be given. The team with the most
number of players present shall be declared as the winner after the grace
period has elapsed.
b. GAME OF SUCCESSION shall be strictly applied in each sports event.
- NOTE: regardless of the scheduled time, the team must be complete
and present one game ahead of their scheduled time.
5. If there is/are no participant/s in a specific game, the college will not be given
any points during the game.
6. In case of injury during the game, a maximum of ten (10) – minute rest shall
be given. (Note: If there’s a substitute player, he/she must be in the official list
of the participants/players for that event. If there’s no substitute, the game
shall continue with/without the injured player).
7. The use of FOUL WORDS during the games is strictly prohibited. Otherwise
the player(s) will be suspended to play for the whole duration of the game for
that day. The game official shall determine whether the player will be
suspended or not for the violation of this guideline.
- NOTE: If there is a violation to this guideline, a first warning or yellow card
will be given first to the player by the game official.
8. The decision of the GAME OFFICIAL shall be final. The team captain and
the coach are the only persons allowed to question the final decision.
9. A screening of players shall be conducted before commencing every game of
each event.
10. Officials are authorized to stop the game in case of violation of the guidelines
found during the game. The college which has violated any guideline shall
automatically be disqualified. If a college has violated the guidelines twice
in an event, the team will automatically be placed last for the event.

Board Events (Dart and Chess)


1. For Chess events, the SWISS system will be applied. In the case that the same
college won the 1st place and 2nd place, only the highest rank will be given to
their college and the 2nd place rank will be given to the other college next in
rank. Also be applied for other ranks.

SPECIAL AWARDS
● PLAYER OF THE GAME
a) The award is given to the player who has shown exemplary athletic
performance and Marist Sportsmanship.
b) The awardee must be from either team who has participated in the
championship game and shall be thoroughly chosen by the Game Official.
c) The following are the events the award will be given to: Basketball
(M/W), Soccer (M), Futsal (W) Volleyball (M/W), and Softball (M/W).

SPECIFIC GUIDELINES FOR SPORTS EVENTS

1. The Official University Week 2023 ID of the College or the University Student
ID will be honored to determine the players’ identity.
2. Only the Official Coach assigned to the sport event is allowed to accompany
the players in the benches (Note: The official coach must be a college
officer, team captain, and/or a Regional/National PRISAA Athlete.
NOTE: Only the people mentioned above can ask and/or raise concerns to the
SSG sports heads).
3. The last Intramurals’ ranking per event shall be used in SEEDING the events.
A Double Elimination format will be applied for all racket and ball games,
except for: Taekwondo.
4. All players must wear the current (University Week 2023) official uniform
required for the event where they are to participate/play. The front side of the
upper garment shall specifically bear the college name and Jersey number,
and the back side shall bear his/her surname and corresponding number.

Combative Sports (Taekwondo)


1. Single Elimination format will be applied.
2. Participants with background or experience in martial arts may participate but
must observe taekwondo rules and etiquette during the tournament.
3. One (1) participant may represent the college in each category (Novice and
Expert).
4. Each category is composed of men and women. The Novice category includes
the following belt color: white, yellow and blue. The Expert category includes the
following belt color: red, brown and black. The official has the right to identify the
category of a player no matter what belt color he/she has. This will be done after
the Screening of players or try–out.
5. Participants must wear the Type A taekwondo uniform (Complete Dobuk)
6. Kicking shoes or any footwear is not allowed during the fight.
7. The protective gears (armors, head gears and groin guards) will be provided by
the taekwondo officials.
8. Taekwondo belts are arranged as follows:
a. White d. Red
b. Yellow e. Brown
c. Blue f. Black

Team Event (Sepak Takraw and Volleyball)


1. For the Sepak Takraw event, best of Three (3) sets for elimination round shall be
applied.

strictly prohibited for the SAFETY of EVERYONE.

SPECIFIC GUIDELINES FOR SPORTS EVENTS

1. Only the Official Coach assigned to the sport event is allowed to accompany
the players in the benches (Note: The official coach must be a college
officer, team captain, and/or a Regional/National PRISAA Athlete.
NOTE: Only the people mentioned above can ask and/or raise concerns to the
SSG sports heads).
2. All players must wear the current (University Week 2023) official uniform
required for the event where they are to participate/play. The front side of the
upper garment shall specifically bear the college name and Jersey number,
and the back side shall bear his/her surname and corresponding number.
NOTE: Handwritten surname, number and college name attached to the
uniform shall not be allowed. The use of masking tape to replace the prints
in the uniform shall not also be allowed.
a. The color of the jersey of each team must bear the dominant color of
their respective departments.
b. The color of the jersey worn by the soccer goalkeepers and volleyball
liberos must be in contrast with the color of the official design.
c. In honor of the 75th Diamond Jubilee of Notre Dame, The logo of the
75th Diamond Jubilee must be included in their college jerseys indicated
below the nape area of the Jersey.
f. Drafting new design will be optional, thus Intramurals 2022 jerseys worn
will still be allowed. (Note: If a college - department chose to draft a new
design make sure that the college - department submits their new design
during the initial screening.)
3. Wearing of steel cleats shoes for Soccer and Softball men and women is
strictly prohibited for the SAFETY of EVERYONE.
4. Only the Players submitted in the Official Gallery in their specific sport events
are allowed to participate. Hence, the players are only allowed to participate
in one (1) sports event.
5. The official time scheduled for the game events shall be strictly followed.
a. A Five (5)–minute defaulting time shall be imposed. A team
must be able to meet the minimum number of players before the
said defaulting time. If both teams fail to meet the minimum
number of players in the said defaulting time, a ten (10)-minute
grace period will be given. The team with the most number of
players present shall be declared as the winner after the grace
period has elapsed.
b. GAME OF SUCCESSION shall be strictly applied in each sports
event.
- NOTE: regardless of the scheduled time, the team must be
complete and present one game ahead of their scheduled time.
6. If there is/are no participant/s in a specific game, the college will not be given
any points during the game.
7. In case of injury during the game, a maximum of ten (10) – minute rest shall
be given. (Note: If there’s a substitute player, he/she must be in the official list
of the participants/players for that event. If there’s no substitute, the game
shall continue with/without the injured player).
8. The use of FOUL WORDS during the games is strictly prohibited. Otherwise
the player(s) will be suspended to play for the whole duration of the game for
that day. The game official shall determine whether the player will be
suspended or not for the violation of this guideline.
- NOTE: If there is a violation to this guideline, a first warning or yellow card
will be given first to the player by the game official.
9. The decision of the GAME OFFICIAL shall be final. The team captain and
the coach are the only persons allowed to question the final decision.
10. A screening of players shall be conducted before commencing every game of
each event.
11. Officials are authorized to stop the game in case of violation of the guidelines
found during the game. The college which has violated any guideline shall
automatically be disqualified. If a college has violated the guidelines twice
in an event, the team will automatically be placed last for the event.
SPECIAL AWARDS
● PLAYER OF THE GAME
a. The award is given to the player who has shown exemplary athletic
performance and Marist Sportsmanship.
b. The awardee must be from either team who has participated in the
championship game and shall be thoroughly chosen by the Game Official.
c. The following are the events the award will be given to: Basketball
(M/W), Soccer (M), Futsal (W) Volleyball (M/W), and Softball (M/W).

Team Event (Sepak Takraw and Volleyball)
2. For the Sepak Takraw event, best of Three (3) sets for elimination round shall be
applied.
3. For the Volleyball event, best of Three (3) sets for elimination round shall be
applied. In case of a rubber match, best of five (5) sets will be applied.
