Campus Tree Planting Activity

(August 25, 2022, Thursday, 3:00 -5:00 pm, BISU Clarin Campus Lot 2 Extension Site)

Complying with the request of Dr. Jo Mark M. Libre, the Chairperson of the Board
of Regents (BOR) of Bohol Island State University (BISU) and the Commissioner of the
Commission on Higher Education (CHED), BISU-Clarin Campus personnel held a
campus tree planting activity in the afternoon of August 25, 2022 after the scheduled
70th Commencement Exercise. As the ultimate users of Mother Nature, we were urged
by the Commissioner to regard this action as a first step towards our responsibilities to
the Mother Earth.

Consequently, BISU- Clarin's faculty and staff actively planted some fruit-bearing
seedlings from 2:30 pm- 4:15 pm. The activity took place at the BISU-Clarin Lot 2
Extension Site in Poblacion Sur, Clarin, Bohol. These 100 pieces of fruit-bearing tree
seedlings being planted were given by the DENR-Bohol province.

Such activity was spearheaded by Dr. Ramil S. Bulilan, our RDE Director. Under
his direction, Mr. Noe S. Lapiz and his co-workers prepared the planting site by securing
holes for the BISU-CLarin personnel to simply plant the seedlings, then placed bamboo
slats as seedling protectors to ensure the seedlings will grow. These employees,
namely: Ms. Cyra Luna M. Basilan, Ms. Riza A. Beltran, Ms. Menchie A. Labrigas, Mrs.
Melissa L. Loquerre, Ms. Alme B. Maravillas, Mrs. Jussel C. Monalim, Mrs. Grethyl Ann
O. Nodalo, Dr. Jonathan V. Oludin, Mrs. Yvette Christine L. Unabia, Mr. Ariel Christian
C. Viodor, Dr. Margie V. Avenido, Ms. Xyla Niña O. Cequiña, Mr. Rudy B. Llemit, Ms.
Ella Sumagaysay, Mr. Miguelito Omani, Engr. Allan Josephus M. Bunga and Mr. Daryl
B. Valdez were the participants of the noble undertaking. Ms. Dearyl Mae C. Batan, the
Extension and Training Chairperson, was unable to participate in that activity due to her
health conditions.

Importantly, the event emphasized the value of planting, growing and conserving
trees, showed profound concern for the environment, and mitigated the negative effects
 of climate change. Finally, the activity was done before 5:00 in the afternoon. Precisely,
this straightforward yet significant action from the BISU-Clarin family will benefit
everyone, especially the environment.
