singing

II. SUBJECT MATTER:

Topic : Basic parts of a Computer

Review ( about technologies)

Motivation: (Asking Questions)

1. How many of you have ever held a mouse?

2. How many of you have ever written your name without
ever picking up something to write with?

Now class, don’t you know that these 2 questions here are
actually related to using computers?

Presentation of the objectives

1. The class will be divided into 2 groups.

2. Each group will chose a leader.
3. The teacher will post images of the different parts of a computer on the
board.

the uses of each parts of a computer).
5. Students will identify the parts and its corresponding definition / uses
6. They will be given 10 minutes to brainstorm and organized their ideas.
7. After that, answers will be written on the board.

computers and typewriters the same and different?
-Is a TV the same thing as a monitor? Why or why not?

A3 - ABSTRACTION

COMPUTER

Now let us learn in detail about each of the above parts of the computer

CPU
CPU (central processing unit) is the brain of the computer.
Just as our brain controls all the different parts of the body
and makes them work together, the CPU controls all other
parts of the computer and makes them work together. All
other parts of the computer are connected to CPU. Just as
our brain stores a lot of information, the CPU is also the
store - house of all the information in the computer.

Monitor

A monitor is like a television; it shows us what work the

computer carries out. This has a power (on/off) switch. Turning
the monitor off does not turn off the computer. There may also
be other buttons to be used for adjusting the image. The
Power glass
switch (ON / OFF)
surface of the monitor is called the screen, whereas the monitor
is the entire box with the screen, case, stand and buttons.

Keyboard

The keyboard is made of several small

buttons called 'keys'. Each key
corresponds to a number or a letter or
some special function. Just as you use a
pencil to write on a paper, the computer
needs a keyboard to tell it what to do.

Mouse

A mouse is a pointing device that controls the movement of a

pointer on the screen. A mouse can have one to three buttons
that can be clicked to perform actions on the computer.
Clicking the mouse once is called a single click while clicking it
twice in quick succession is called a double click. Depending on which side
the clicked button of a mouse is, it may be called a right click or a left click.
Additional parts of computer

Speakers
Sounds produced by the computer or songs played on it
are heard through the speakers.

Printer

It is a device that helps you to print what you see on monitor on a paper.
