CHAPTER 1:
INTRODUCTION

The internship is an integral platform for anyone to gain

experience in an actual work piece. By doing our internship in
an actual work piece, it helps us to know and discover
ourselves from different angles. We have decided to take the
internship course to grab the golden opportunities to apply
theories and knowledge that we have in a real working life
setting. In some ways, through the internship, we also have
learned that we are still lacking as an individual and employee.
Internship helps us to identify our weakness and also our
strength. All the experience while having internship in
RENAULT KOCHI will be beneficial in future.

CHAPTER 2:
WHEEL ALIGNMENT
Wheel alignment is a part of standard automobile service.
That consists of adjusting the angle of the wheel to the
car manufacturer's specifications. This reduces the
unconditional wear and tear of the tyre. It increases the
tyre life and ensures the vehicles travel straight and turn.
Wheel alignment consists of three main parts,
CASTER: It is the angle that identifies the forward or
backward slope of a line that is drawn through the
upper and lower steering pivot points.
CAMBER: The inward and outward tilt of the tyre and
wheel assembly. The position viewing from the front
of the vehicle is called camber.
TOE: The toe angle identifies the direction of the tyres
are the centerline of the vehicle when viewed from
directly above.

CHAPTER 3:
GENERAL SERVICE
A motor vehicle service is a series of maintenance
procedures carried out at a set time interval or after the
vehicle has traveled a certain distance

SHORT TERM CHECK UP,

oil and coolant levels
Air filter
Tyre pressure and tread depth
Headlight, turn signals, break, and parking light
Oil and filter
Rotate tyre

THREE TYPES OF CAR SERVICE,

The service most commonly referred to a full car service,

but there are actually three main types,
Inteum service
Full service
Major service

CLUTCH PLATE REPLACEMENT

Your automobile clutch expenses significant wear and

tear as a result of your driving style and other reasons. A
clutch may service for more than 70000km if properly
maintained, and some may have to change their clutch
plate as early as 10000km

3
WORKING OF CLUTCH PLATE

Most automobile clutch is a dry single plate clutch with

two friction surfaces. When the clutch pedal is depressed,
the through out bearing moves the flywheel pushing the
pressure plates release figures and moving the pressure
plate levels against pressure plate spring force. This
action moves the pressure plate away from the clutch
disc, thus interrupting power flow.

4
WORKING OF ENGINE GEARBOX

Generally, there are two types of gear: the input gears are
fixed on the countershaft making them single units. It
drives the individual gears on the main shaft, which
rotates freely on the bearings; thus, the gearbox passes
the drive to the wheels depending upon the gear which
engages on the main shaft. When you push the shifter
sleeve towards the desired gear, then gear locks on to the
main shaft and rotates it. Thus the main shaft rotates at
the engaged gear's speed and provides output according
to the gear's ratio.

5
FOUR WHEELER SUSPENSION

A car's suspension system is a protective lattice of shock

absorbing components such as springs and dampers.
Your car suspension helps to ensure that your driving is
safe and smooth by absorbing the energy from various
road bumps and other kinds of impacts. These are basic
types of suspension comments:

Linkages
Spring
Shock absorbing

SUSPENSION SYSTEM BASIC PARTS

1. Springs
Springs help absorb the impact when you drive your
vehicle over bumpy roads, potholes, or other irregular
surfaces. These metal coils bend, so neither the driver nor
passengers feel the brunt of the impact.

2. Wheels

Wheels and tires are the only part of the suspension that
touches the ground. Not only are they responsible for
moving your vehicle, but they also work in conjunction
with the suspension system to give you a smooth ride.

6
3. Shock
Absorbers Shock absorbers work with the springs to
absorb the shock of driving on the road. Without these
essential components, both the vehicle and passengers
would be bouncing up and down each time you drive over
rough terrain.

4. Rods
Rods are metal links that connect all the different parts
of the suspension system together. These important
components are built to last the lifetime of the vehicle.
The only way they may break is if your car is involved in a
vehicle accident.

5. Joints, Bearings, & Bushings The various joints,

bearings, and bushings connect the rods to the rest of the
suspension components, although this is not their only
function. These crucial elements allow for sliding and
twisting actions that are necessary for the suspension
system to work properly.

6. Steering System

While the steering system is not a direct component of

the suspension system, it is affected whenever any part of
the suspension fails. Together, the steering system and
suspension are what make the wheels and tires turn and
drive.

7. Frame
The frame is the primary component of the suspension
system. It carries the entire weight of the suspension,
keeping all the parts connected and working properly

7
WORKING OF SUSPENSION SYSTEM

A suspension works on the principle of force dissipation

which involves converting force into heat thus removing
the impact that force would have made. It uses spring,
damber and struts to achieve this. A spring will hold the
energy while a damper will convert it into heat.

CHAPTER 4:
ELECTRICAL SERVICES
Electrical service is energy resulting from charged
particles. When a wire carries electric current to your
television or refrigerator, this is an example of an
electrical wire.

AIR CONDITIONER (AC)

An air conditioner is a system that is used to cool down a
space by removing heat from the space and moving it to
an outside area. The cool air then can be moved through a
building through ventilation

AC CUT OFF ISSUE

The constant running of a unit will reduce pressure in the
evaporator or cooling coil until it freezes. This is why in
some cases constant running can be dangerous. The
freezing of the coil can cause liquid refrigerant to flood
back into the unit's compressor and damage it.

PROBLEM IDENTIFICATION
A pressure drop in a system or a pressure increase in a
vacuum chamber indicates a leak is formed. Over
pressurization can make a leak more noticeable. In a
system with a sight over pressure, coating the outside
surface with soap water will help to detect a leak, because
bubbles form at the leakage site. Fill nitrogen in 250psi
and check after 20 minutes if pressure is below 250psi
there is leak.

9
AC BLOWER
AC blower motor, also called AC fan blower. Ensure the
car air conditioning and heating system is working
perfectly. But it's a little known component, mostly due to
its out of sight location under the dish or engine
compartment.

CHAPTER 6:
CONCLUSION
On the whole this internship had a useful experience. We
have gained new knowledge, skills and met many new
people. We achieved several of our learning goals. The
internship is also good to find out what our strengths and
weakness. At last this internship has given new insights
and motivation to pursue a career in the automobile
sector.
