Topic Module 5:Food and Health

Content Standard Main: 5.3 Express an imaginative response to literary texts

Complementary:  1.2 Understand meaning in a variety of familiar contexts

Learning standard Main:   5.3.1 Respond imaginatively and intelligibly through creating simple
role-plays and simple poems. Other imaginative responses as appropriate

Complementary:  1.2.2 Understand with support specific information and


details of longer simple texts on a range of familiar topics

Objectives Main:  At the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to create a menu.

Complementary: At the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to listen and
justify their choices

Success criteria Student able to:


1. create a suitable menu.
2. listen and share at least 3 justifications for their choices in breakfast, lunch
and dinner. 

Activity 1. Pupils brainstorm food people usually have for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
2. Teacher explains that pupils are going to create a menu. A few samples are
shown (Poem guidebook page 129).
3. Pupils are given some time to create their own menu for breakfast, lunch
and menu in their groups.
4. Pupils justify their choice of food and the nutritional value.
