Introduction:
Introduction:During the Coronavirus Disease 19
(COVID-19) pandemic, keeping hands clean is
especially important to help prevent the virus
from spreading. Germs are everywhere. They can
get onto hands and items we touch during daily
activities and make us sick. Cleaning hands with
soap andwater or hand sanitizer that contains at
least 60% alcohol is one of the most important
steps you can take to avoid getting sick and
spreading germs to those around you. Various
attempts were made to reduce the virus
transferring by work from home, social distancing,
and also including hand hygiene. So far, most of
the available hand sanitizers do not operate
automatically. So there should be an automatic
hand sanitizer which will operates on its own .
Objectives:
To design an automatic hand sanitizer which
dispense on its own whenever someone place its
hand beneath it. This should be easy to use, light
weight and occupy less space.

Components:
 Water pump :- DC water pump is a
machine that transports liquid or
pressurizes liquid. When the water
pump is working, the coil and
commutator rotate, but the magnetic
steel and carbon brushes do not rotate.
The alternating current direction of the
coil is changed by the commutator and
brushes that rotate with the motor.

 Proximity ir sensor :- An infrared

sensor (IR sensor) is a radiation-
sensitive optoelectronic component
with a spectral sensitivity in the
infrared wavelength range 780 nm …
50 µm. IR sensors are now widely used
in motion detectors, which are used in
building services to switch on lamps or in
alarm systems to detect unwelcome
guests.
 Transistor tip32c:- The TIP32C is
a silicon Epitaxial-base PNP power
transistor in Jedec TO-220 plastic
package. It is intented for use in medium
power linear and switching applications.
The complementary NPN type is TIP31C.
 Resistor 1k:- 'k' is short for Kilo,
meaning 1000. So a 1k resistor is 1000
ohms. A 6800 ohm resistor is 6.8k, often
written as 6k8. A 1,000,000 ohm resister
is 1M (“one meg”)

 Ac adaptor:- An AC adapter, AC/DC

adapter, or AC/DC converter is a type of
external power supply, often enclosed
in a case similar to an AC plug. ... AC
adapters are used with electrical devices
that require power but do not contain
internal components to derive the
required voltage and power from mains
power.

 Sanitizer container:- It is the container

in which sanitizer is filled. It is generally
made of PET plastic.
 Frame:-  an open structure that gives
shape and support to something, such
as the transverse stiffening ribs of a
ship's hull or an aircraft's fuselage or the
skeletal beams and uprights of a building.
an enclosing case or border into which
something is fittedthe frame of a picture.

Project working:
For this project we used proximity IR sensor to
measure the distance of the hand and we used a
water pump to push the push bottle of hand
sanitizer. Both of these sensors are connected
with circuit to control them. IR sensor is
connected on the top of bottle using a support
and water pump is attached on the bottom left of
the bottle. A string is attached with the face of
water pump and the push bottle will act as a
pulley to dispense sanitizer. Whenever we place
our hand beneath the sanitizer bottle, the
proximity IR will measure the distance of the hand
from the sensor if the distance is less than the set-
point value then the circuit will operate the servo
motor. The water pump is initially at rest but
when the distance is less than set-point then it
will start pumping so it can push the sanitizer out
from the sanitizer container.
