INTRODUCTION
1. Hands are considered to be the primary mode of infectious
diseases, especially for those living in close proximity such
as college residence halls, shopping malls, bank halls,
market areas etc.
2. Hand hygiene is a major requirement for human health
and many infectious diseases can emerged if proper
hand hygiene procedures are not implemented.
3. Hand washing is the simplest, important and most cost
effective way to improve hand hygiene in health care and
support the prevention of various kind of infectious disease.
OBJECTIVES
 The main objective of this Project Construction is to
design and implement a low cost touch free smart
automatic hand sanitizer dispenser controller that
includes features such as IR proximity Sensor, TIP42C
and Dc Water Pump, based on LM393 comparator and
infrared reflection detection.
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Tools and Equipment
The following tools were used during the construction of the electronic units.
1) Soldering Iron
2) Soldering lead
3) Disordering pump
4) Side cutter
5) Digital multi- meter
7) Electrician knife.
METHODOLOGY
SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
In this research paper, we are using the IR proximity sensor (Infrared sensor
module) to detect the presence of a hand. When it detects presence of hand below
10cm, it will trigger the pump controller transistor (TIP42C) and the when the
transistor conducts, current will then be allowed to flow through to the motor pump in
order to pour the liquid on the hand. In this system, the IR proximity sensor is used to
control all the attached devices across the external electronics equipment which are:
DC motor water pump, TIP42C, LIPO battery charger, and LEDs. The power supply
provides the voltage and current required for effective performance of the system. The
DC water pump motor are fed with regulated DC power supply, which is 5V
respectively.
CONTRUCTION
This chapter gives a concise and complete coverage of all theory and component,
and materials relevant to the construction of this automatic hand sanitizer dispenser.
In this design/construction we have 3-pin IR module based on LM358 and other
necessary components like  transistor TIP42C (T1), 5V single-changeover relay
(RL1), diode 1N4007(D1), LED1, mini submersible DC motor pump, and a few other
components.
THE POWER STAGE.
This stage consists of a transformer, a rectifier (achieved by using four diodes), filter
capacitor, indicator (LED) and a resistor to protect the light emitting diode. The
transformer is used to step down the input mainly supply from 220V AC to 12V AC.
A rectifier was connected to convert the 12Valternating current to direct pulsating
current. Two equally rated capacitors were connected to the positive and negative
supply coming from the rectifier. The non-polarized capacitor connected as shown
to assured adequate removal of ripples. The circuit diagram is shown below.
The IR Proximity Sensor Stage
This stage consist of a resistor, transistor, etc. the IR module is a three (3) pin sensor
module with pin as follow: VCC, GND, and VOUT, the VCC is connected to the 5V
output from the voltage regulator, the ground to the ground of the circuit and the
Vout to Tip42C. when an object comes in a close range to the IR sensor, the sensor
conducts and Vout tends to output high voltage (5Volts) thereby turning ON the
transistor T1 which in turn activate the relay and the DC submersible pump to pour
out the sanitizer liquid.

EXPECTED CONTRIBUTION TO
KNOWLEGDE
 To solve a considerable fraction of the problems
associated with hands sanitizing, so as to reduce the risk
of disease transfer, between individuals.
 To expose the fact that the proper hand sanitizing after
holding or touching objects, using the toilet and even
transfer/exchanging money between individuals, will
geometrically reduce the rate and/or presence of ill
health in the area in question.
