Reflective Essay

DESCRIPTION I once walked along beside the road of Rizal Ave.

Puerto Princesa City when I saw an old man who sells
balut (fertilized egg) fell down his products and many
have been crushed. I chose to passed by instead of
helping him.

FEELINGS At first, I got scared because of him because of the

way he looks but while walking away from him I got
conscience and felt pity for him.

EVALUATION This made me realized that I should help him at least

pick up the dropped baluts (Fertilized eggs)
ANALYSIS I had thought that if I didn’t go back my conscience
will attack me whenever I am thinking of it. On the
other hand, If I did help him to pick up his product,
this will clear all my thoughts and doubts about what
happened. This will come up in following the good
thought which is helping the vendor.

CONCLUSION Helping others is a part of being personhood. We

should learn how to accept people the way they are
because acceptance is vital. It manifests the unity of
the spiritual and the corporeal in human existence,
and thereby is an essential character of human
species. Personhood also gives to the human
individual a universal worth. In the case of vendor, I
may not help him to bring back what he lost or
bankrupt, at least in a simple way I helped him.
After these realizations, I went back to help him pick
up his balut products. My conscience cannot take it
and went back where he incidentally fell down his
product and helped him.

ACTION PLAN After these realizations, I’ve come up with the

decision to help him at least to the best way I can.
Conscience will bother me if I did not help him.
