Ang Matalinong Pasya
May dumulog na dalawang babae kay Haring Solomon. Ang sabi ng isa: “Mahal na Hari, kami po ng
babaing ito ay nakatira sa iisang bahay. Nanganak po ako at pagkalipas ng tatlong araw ay nanganak din ang
babaing ito.Wala po kaming ibang kasama roon.Isang gabi ay nadaganan po niya ang kanyang anak at ang bata
ay namatay. Bumangon po siya sa kalaliman ng gabi, samantalang ako ay natutulog. Kinuha niya sa tabi ko ang
aking anak at dinala sa kanyang higaan, at inilagay sa aking piling ang kanyang anak na patay. Kinaumagahan,
bumangon po ako upang pasusuhin ang aking anak, ngunit natagpuan ko na lamang siyang patay. Subalit nang
pagmasdan ko pong mabuti, nakilala kong hindi iyon ang aking anak.”
Tumutol naman ang pangalawa at ang wika, “Hindi totoo iyan! Anak ko ang buhay at iyo ang patay!”
Lalo namang iginiit ng una, “Anak mo ang patay at akin lamang ang buhay!”
At nagtalo sila nang ganito sa harapan ng hari.
Kaya’t sinabi ni Solomon sa isa: “Sinasabi mong iyo ang buhay na bata at sa kanya ang patay.
“Pagkatapos ay iniutos niya sa isang kawal na kumuha ng isang tabak. At dinala nga sa kanya ang isang tabak.
Sinabi ng hari: Hatiin ang batang buhay at ibigay ang kalahati sa bawat isa.”
Nabagabag ang puso ng tunay na ina ng batang buhay at napasigaw: “Huwag po, kamahalan. Ibigay na
po ninyo sa kanya ang bata, huwag lamang hatiin!”
Sabi naman noong isa” “Hatiin ang bata!”
Kaya nagpasya si Haring Solomon, “Huwag nang hatiin ang bata. Ibigay ninyo sa una: siya ang tunay na
ina.”
Nabalita sa buong Israel ang hatol na iginawad ng hari at nagkaroon ang lahat ng magalang na
pagkatakot sa kanya.
Napatunayan nilang nasa kanya ang karunungan ng Diyos upang humatol nang makatarungan.
