talks shape the culture of DOTA players. (2)This ethnographic research involved DOTA players, friends, and the operator of the

appearance and homosexuality/gays.(5) Prevalent locutionary acts were intonation, stress, semantics and lexical category.
Illocutionary acts such as expressives, representatives, directives, commissives, and declaratives were found in trash talks .(6)
Moreover, perlocutionary effects of trash talks experienced by the key informants included: having anger led to threat or trouble,
countering the opponent, slapping the face of the opponent, hitting the opponent with a battle, and even killing someone who
uttered trash talks.(7) Finally, this study proved that trash talks help in shaping the culture of the DOTA players for the following

IV. MOVIEW REVIEW/ BOOK REVIEW/ CRITIQUE

Read, analyze and evaluate the movie review on the selected film. Then, answer the following corresponding questions.
Shade the number of the correct answer.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2

By: Peter Suderman - - Thursday, July 14, 2011, www.washingtontimes.com/news
(1)
And so it ends.(2) The eighth and final Harry Potter movie represents the closing of one of the most remarkable pop-
culture phenomena of the modern era. (3)An adaptation of the second half of the seventh book in author J.K. Rowling’s
fantastically popular series about the adventures of a young wizard, the final installment is a milestone, as much an event as a
movie.
(4)
Of course, it is also a movie — and a rather good one at that. (5)Somber, exciting, and surprisingly beautiful, “Harry
Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part 2” brings one of Hollywood’s grandest series to a worthy finish.
(6
)For the remaining few who’ve yet to explore Ms. Rowling’s mystical realm, however, this is probably not the place to
start. The holdouts will certainly grasp the basics of the larger conflict — the villain is the bald guy with no nose and a pet snake
(7)

— but the movie’s large cast of characters and accumulated narrative knots are likely to prove impenetrable to the less devoted.
(8)
The devoted, of course, likely will have their own quibbles. (9) For example, despite the decision to split the final book into
two films, many of the minor characters are given short shrift. Of the legion of sublime character actors who’ve inhabited these
roles, only Alan Rickman as Severus Snape and Warwick Davis as the goblin Griphook get more than a handful of scenes.( 10)
Even Ralph Fiennes, returning as Potter’s noseless nemesis, appears mostly as an evil totem more than an individual mastermind.
(11)
The focus here is squarely on the trio of young heroes — Harry (Daniel Radcliffe), Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) and
Hermione Granger (Emma Watson). (12)When the first Potter film was released in 2001, the three stars were but children, and there
were questions about whether they could stay with the roles as the series continued . (13) Now it seems impossible to imagine any of
the movies — or the characters these young performers play — without them.
36. How did the author present the introductory paragraph of his film review?
①He unfolded the secrets of the characters in the movie.
②He made an exposition on the conflicts experienced by the protagonists in the movie.
③He made used of the adjectives and descriptions to its ambitious ways to sensationalize the movie.
④He made an announcement that the movie has reach its finality.
37. Based on the second paragraph, the author could have rated the movie as…
① Fair ②Good ③very good ④excellent
38. Based on the third paragraph we can infer that the writer…
①wants to have another Harry Potter series
②is satisfied with how the movie has ended due to excellent characters
③is not satisfied with the direction and cinematography released
④ regrets for the other characters were only given less exposure

39. How did the author see the three characters in the movie?
①He sensationalized Harry Potter more than the other characters for in the first place, he is the main protagonist
②He saw the three main characters as equal of their own importance
③He doubted the capabilities of the main characters on their portrayal due to their will in sustaining the character
④ He thought that there is a love triangle happening among the characters which add excitement to the movie
40. How could you assessed the language used by the author on his review of the movie?
①He used much verbs to explain well the suspense and actions happening in the movie.
②He used powerful adjectives to describe and highlight the characters for the brilliant performances they portray
③He used language of persuasion added with intense conviction to encourage the moviegoers to hope for believability
④He used simple and fairly comprehensive language
