I haven’t commuted in the country’s railway system for some time now but I have experienced

riding it before. When me and my family travelled using the use of MRT we experienced a lot of
inconvenience and difficulty throughout the whole ride. When arriving at the MRT station, there’s
already a large number of passengers trying to go up the stairs filled with people. The location
was full of workers trying to get on time in their work, people having their own agendas and
many more. The elevator in the MRT the last time I saw it was not functioning so it caused
everyone to use the stairs.

After the long line and the time spent waiting, me and my family arrived at the station wherein
you buy your ticket/card to pass through and get inside the train. Again, there is a large amount
of people trying to get their cards. Even after the tough process of gaining it, waiting for the train
is a nuisance because when the train arrives people tend to try to get inside first so it results in
people squeezing in and then filling up the whole train. Not only does the problem stop there, the
air conditioning is terrible thus the passengers are drenched in sweat. To add on, rush hours
especially at night time are much more terrible since there is a large amount of people going
home. Overall it’s simply a terrible time to get through the country’s railways system.

The common theme that I am seeing throughout the whole railway problem of the country is that
there is a traffic congestion of people all the time. Another issue that I can see is that there is
sometimes a problem within the train (malfunctions, air conditioning, etc.). There are so many
problems in the railway system of the country and it is highly difficult to solve them all in simply 2
projects. The first project that I want to implement is to improve the system on how people enter
the railways. Since there is a large number of people trying to get a ride, fixing the system in
general would aid the passengers to have a bit of a smooth experience in trying to get in. This
would also fix the mismanagement happening at the railways system.

Lastly the final project that I would like to do is of course create more high quality railways
systems like what other countries acquire. Obviously this is a hefty and highly expensive project
but if there is a large budget and the country has no more debt, then it should be a go signal.
This would allow people to have various options to choose from and most definitely, would
lessen the traffic congestion.
