1 Initial Professional Education – Professionals generally begin their professional lives by


completing a university program in their chosen fields – teacher education, engineering,
nursing, accountancy. This means long and arduous years of preparation

2. Accreditation - University programs are approved by a regulatory body like the


Commission on Higher Education (CHED) in the Philippines to ensure that graduates
from these recognized programs start their professional lives with competence.

3. Licensing- Licensing is mandatory not voluntary and is administered by a


government authority. In the Philippines, this government authority is the Professional
Regulation Commission (PRC).

Professional Development – This is an ongoing professional education that maintains or


improves professionals’ knowledge and skills after they begin professional practice. In
the Philippines, this is Continuing Professional Development mandated by RA 10912,
otherwise known as the CPD Act of 2016.

5. Professional Societies - Professionals see themselves as part of a community of like-
minded individuals who put their professional standards above the individual self-
interest or their employer’s self-interest. These professional societies put dedication to
the public interest and commitment to moral and ethical values. Professional societies
define certification criteria, manage certification programs, establish accreditation
standards and define a code of ethics and disciplinary action for violations of that code. 

6. Code of Ethics - Each profession has a code of ethics to ensure that its practitioners
behave responsibly. The code states what professional should do. Professional can be
ejected from their professional societies or lose their licenses to practice for violating the
code of ethics. (McConnell, Steve, The teaching profession is governed by the Code of
Ethics for Professional Teachers. Violation of the Code Ethics for professional teachers is
one of the grounds for the revocation of the professional teacher’s Certificate of
Registration and suspensions from the practice of the teaching profession (Sec. 23., RA
7836).  

1. Why does a profession like teaching require long years of initial professional education and
continuing professional development after that long, arduous initial professional education?
It is very important because it helps to build confidence to and strength also it helps to
trained themselves to become a successful educator someday.

People who are able to do something well can do that thing for a living, while people who are
not able to do anything that well make a living by teaching. Having learned the elements of a
profession, do you agree with Bernard Shaw? Explain your answer.

1. Read this letter given by a private school principal to his teachers on the first day of a new
school year. It may make your humanizing mission in teaching crystal clear.

Dear Teacher:
I am a survivor of a concentration camp.
My eyes saw what no man should witness:
- Gas chambers built by learned engineers.
- Children poisoned by educated physicians.
- Infants killed by trained nurses.
- Women and babies shot and burned by high school and college graduates.
So I am suspicious of education.
My request is: Help your students become human.

As a professional teacher my mission was to give child to have a good quality of education, develop
their good moral character to make them a good citizen someday

2. Watch “Discovering Your Life’s True Calling – Lou Sabrina Ongkiko at YouTube. Based on the
video that you just watched, what is our life’s true calling? How can you apply that in your calling
to teach?
Based on what I watch, “discovering your life true calling” I can apply my calling to teach because it
also my passion and becoming a teacher is the profession I really want to become in future.

2. What talents and skills do you have that can be shared or used when you become a full-fledged
teacher?

Talent that I have is I’m good at drawing and also I want reading books so when I became
full-fledge teacher someday I want to inspired my student in arts also I want to develop their
own skills, if they are not good at arts of course they are good at something and maybe that
things is still now develop by them so I’m going to guide them to develop also their skills
and find their passion in life.

3. Think of a teacher whom you consider to be talented and skillful in his/her teaching.

For the past years of my school life the teacher for the that is very talented and skillful is
my former grade 7 and 8 adviser, his name is Sir John Paul Rico commonly known as Sir
Paul in (PSAT) for me he is talented because his good at sport especially in table tennis
and the most important why his the talented and skillful for me because the way he treat all
of his student, Sir Paul is so kind and always giving an advice his student to study as they
can because when you get successful, all your sacrifices and your parents sacrifices will be
not in waste. And also you can be as you wanted to be in future when you study.

2. As future teachers, what do you think is the best way that the government can do to meet the
needs of teachers?

The best solution that I think is to add the salary of a teacher because teacher also needs a
financial not to support their own needs but also to support their families

3. Do you believe that teachers are treated unfairly compared to other professions? Why?
YES. Because the salary amount of a teacher per month is still not small so it will be hard to
manage their budget especially when they supporting their family and for the other reasons.
Teacher is the one who making use successful, so they really need to be respected.
Because without them we can’t become as we wanted to be.

teachers are enjoying their rights as citizen?
Yes not just a teacher are enjoying their life because all human being are supposed to
be enjoying their life as a citizen.
2. What is your opinion about teachers joining anti-government rallies?
here is nothing wrong about teachers joining and participating in anti-government rallies.
For all of you disagreeing, you must foremost know that everyone in this democratic
country has been given the right to be heard, the right to participate in protest actions, and
the right to organize such actions.
3. How do we encourage teaches to become human rights advocates in their communities?
By convincing them and make them realize but also you need to show a prof to make them
convince

1. Looking at the triumphs and failures of teachers today, do you think that teaching is still the
noblest profession? Explain your answer.
Yes, because all people making mistakes not only a teacher, people can do bad things, but
all people deserve to be respected and same also for the teacher

2. What are the things that should be improved in the professional life of teachers?
A good teacher is she has a good strong Communicators, listen well, Focus on
Collaboration, Adaptable, Engaging, Show Empathy, Have Patience and Best Practices.

3. Interview a model professional teacher in your school. What made him/her an outstanding
professional?

I interviewed my former teacher in high school his name is Sonny Bravo one of the retired
professional teacher before in PSAT then he said to me what he made him outstanding
professional is because of his family and wanted them to scape the poverty before so
he study and also work every weekend to support his financial, and the key to make
you success is to have inspiration in life and that is his family.

1. How can we engage teachers to be good community leaders?
Teachers have leaderships and roles in their communities especially in activities and
projects related to education and welfare of young children.

2. What forms of advocacies should a teachers participate in the community?


Teacher advocates quality of education, protection and welfare of children and youth,
promotion of literacy, human rights, wellness and health, justice, and many other concerns.
They support free and honest election, they help people understand the effects of
irresponsible use of resources, and they advocate values formation in the community

3. Can you identify teachers who are good community leaders and advocates? Set an
interview with them. What are the things they do to serve in the community?
I interview my former teacher in elementary name “ ma’am Evelyn Cansino a teacher in our
barangay in Capandanan and she said that . As a teacher you have to be understanding
and always advocate your student and lead them with their future and it is also for our
community to help the kids to achieve their goal in life

1. What are the problems and issues related to teacher character and behavior that you are
aware of?
Teachers mostly having a problem with their patience maybe because they also facing
some problems in their home and somehow it affects the teachers attitude toward his/her
students when the teacher is in the school.
2. What are the factors that influence the values system and character of teachers today?
There are several factors that influence classroom teaching. They include parent
expectations with regards to teacher communication, socioeconomic conditions, and school
policies such as those related to attendance and discipline

3. Who among your former teachers have greatly influenced you to become a teacher?

The most of my former teacher inspired to become one of them because they are good at
explaining something their lesson and it is very enjoyable when you really understand the
topic. But the teacher who really inspired me is my former teacher when I was in grade 7
and grade 8 because and his name is Sir. John Paul Rico. Sir Rico is very kind and very
approachable he also talks to his student if there was something wrong with them and also
giving us some advice how studying is very important before we are going. back in our
home. For me hi is the best teacher because he really wanted to help student to graduate
even you are poor, as I remember one of my classmates can’t go to school because of their
family financial problems and Sir Rico talk to the parent of that student and told that if they
can’t make their sons go to school then Sir Rico will be the one to support my classmate to
go to school.

To develop a expert teachers he/she have to be the characteristics of the following

2. What are the factors that have contributed to the mediocrity of teaching profession in the
Philippines?
The factors that contributed to the mediocrity of teaching profession in the Philippines are
the prevalent mediocrity, inability to teach students from diverse cultural and linguistic
backgrounds, inability to teach students from diverse cultural and linguistic
backgrounds, low academic expectations, particularly for low-income and minority
students due to poverty
3. Identify and expert teacher. Set an interview with him or her. What made him/her as an expert
teacher? What lessons can be learned from his or her life as an expert teacher?
A teacher can be an expert teacher and when you helping a students listen to them and ask
a question to help them makes sense of their own understanding or they solve their
problems or tell ask their ideas.

1. How do we encourage teachers to develop culturally relevant and responsive curriculum
For their learners?
The best approach would be to involve the learners in creating the culturally relevant and
responsive curriculum. Gather feedback from the learners based on certain questions and see
where the feedback could lead. This feedback could be helpful to know what the students
already know and what more they would like to know

2. How can teachers incorporate cultural literacy in classroom pedagogy and in the content of their
course?
Teacher may ask the student if he/she satisfy or he/she capable to connect to communicate
with others even they have a different culture

3. What is your idea of the implementation of Mother Tongue-based Multilingual Education?


My idea about implementation of mother-tongue based on multilingual education is still
good because it is symbolized as their first language and where they came from

4. How do we promote equity and social justice in our school?


We can promote equity and justice in school by treating or students same as the other
student, so we have to treat them same as the others student. Then if one of the students
having a hard time to understand the topic then ask him what he/she didn’t understand then
try to explain again until he already understand It so that how we promote equity and justice
in school.

Learner-centered teaching uses the students' interests and strengths to create a

Community must address the needs and interest of a teachers like giving them the tools in

Classroom Management, Collaborative Learning, Using Differentiated Instruction,
Connecting the Teaching to Real-life Situations, Integrating Technology in Teaching,
and the flexibility of the Teacher

your students?
If I were a multigrade teacher, I need to practice different teaching styles and also I need to
be more patience with my students

For me it is impossible because computer is only a tool to make our studies much easier especially
when we need something to search or brows in internet but it wont replace the traditional school
that we used to.
