Directions: Explain briefly how the Spanish rules changed the way of life of the pre-colonial
Philippines significantly in terms of:

A. ECONOMIC ASPECT

During the pre-colonial period, we only traded with our Asian neighbors, but under Spanish rule,
products from Mexico and Spain or even Europe began to enter the Philippines more directly.
The Trading industries are becoming a norm in economic of the pre-colonial Philippines, they
adopted to they can market their product, they also adopt to how to export and import some goods
from there to another part of the nation. After the end of The Galleon Trade, the opening of Sue
Canal is also the opening of a new opportunity in the economy for Europe and also for East Asian
for business endeavors. The Sue Canal are becoming the way for exporting and importing goods
too it’s become so efficient for all exporter and importer. The advancement of the fare crop
industry in the Philippines was fueled by the business ventures of North European and North
American vendors, who provided capital, association, and access to outside business sectors and a
source of imports. Because of the Spanish ruling, for the first time, government monopoly
contracts for the collection of various revenues were made available to foreigners. The Spanish is
the only one who have the power to control what should happen in the economy in the pre-
colonial Philippines they also start the legalizing of opium that came from China and they start
selling opium that for increasing their revenues. They established monopolies in some goods and
products since the colonial government who controlled it.

B. POLITICAL ASPECT

The liberalism is begun in pre-colonial when after the deposing of Queen Isabel II. It’s also the
start of a provisional government that extended to the Spanish colonies. When the colonizers
came, they constructed over the existing structures. They observed the original taxation system,
in which the subjects paid or "tributes/taxes" to the datu/lord. Because of the Cadiz Constitution
in which all the locals (local Filipinos) are forced to pay tributes and rendering open
administrations dependent on its equity provision

C. SOCIAL ASPECT

The Philippines society during the Spanish Era is characterized by many positive traits they have
also strong religious convictions, deference to authority, a high regard for one’s own self-esteem,
and great interpersonal connections to others. In buying habits, Filipinos will regularly buy from
certain specific suppliers who will give them, in return with reduced prices, good quality, and,
often, credit or the ‘’Suki relationships’’ often apply in other contexts as well.
In terms of Schools and Education the Spaniards have required the Filipinos to speak Spanish, up
till end of the 70s the Spanish subjects were taught in school.
