Forms of Quadratic Functions
1. f(x) = ax2
Essential Question: What do you think will be the effect of increasing/decreasing the value of a to the opening
of the parabola?
2. f(x) = ax2 + k
The above function is originally in the form f(x) = ax2 but a constant k is added to ax2, thus giving rise to the
second form of quadratic function
Essential Question: What do you think will be the effect of adding or subtracting a constant k to ax 2 to the
graph of f(x) = ax2?

A. Sketch the graph of the following sets of quadratic functions. In every set, one Cartesian Coordinate Plane will be
used.
