Watching the Documentary-Film entitled “The Social Dilemma”. was eye-opening for everyonewhosaw it since it
addresses the present issue that social media users are facing, and it is somethingthat has a significant impact on
our many facets of life. We have all fallen into the trapof thebusiness model that social media has continuously
offered us. Having a constant supplyof recommendations aimed at seducing every user's brain, therefore altering
not just our mental health, but also our everyday interests and routines. That being said, it is a major
problemgiventhat the proliferation of these social media platforms has created an addictive drug,
particularlyamong younger generations. By this, the fabricated reality that we have perceived in this virtual
world has resulted in a significant increase in suicides due to depression.
Which exactly is this phony reality? For example, having such numbers of likes on Facebook, favorites on Twitter,
shares, and impressions have permeated users' thoughts, causing themtoperceive it as their own version of reality.
Their psychological analysis has been influencedbytheirperception of such models as a type of reality. They
believed that having a tiny number of likes andimpressions proved their quality. So, what do they do to make their
social connections on suchsiteslike them? They begin to fabricate their own world. Using whatever methods to
make themselvesappear better in the virtual world, even if it is not who they are in reality.
After seeing the film, I realized that it is something with which we can identify in our current reality. Aside from
harming users' mental health, it is also something that has given rise to thosewhoutilize conspiracy theories, false
news, social propaganda, and other methods to get attentionwhilealso dividing the community. People that have
diverse beliefs from one another are unabletocomprehend one another. What is the root of the problem? The
economic strategy of social mediaplatforms is that each user is presented with a distinct interface or suggestions
based on their dailylifestyle, matching their interests based on their searches. That being said, it is
actuallyquitefrightening because if someone is really addicted to using social media, even if all of their
dataandinformation is publicly displayed on their accounts, it could be quite dangerous. The numberof hackers
has grown quite large. Aside from that, the ongoing seduction is what makes it toxic. Thesoftware would keep
track of your everyday activities and then continually bombard you withthesevarious types of recommendations,
which would be tempting. checked. As a result, a lot of timewaswasted that could have been spent more
productively.
