Module 3: Personal Flourishing Plan (PFP) Guide

Individual Work
Amended by Dr Manauat | December 2022

 Follow the usual format to include your name, section, etc.

 A. Note the learning materials for Module 3. Also watch this video and reflect on the
important points on “happiness”
 The Foundations of Happiness by Will Schoder

 B. Write your (narrative) essay integrating all you have learned about yourself so far (this
will be easier to do AFTER you complete the Narrative Knowing output), and techniques of
improving oneself and mapping out how to be “happy” and to “flourish”

 This requirement is an individual plan for personal flourishing.

 The integrative (essay) output will involve the following:

o (1) The student writing about how the theory / concepts (related concepts like the
PERMA model, positive psychology, eudaimonia, security, stress, anxiety,
flourishing) apply to her own life experiences.
o (2) The student examining conditions that would lead for her to flourish. For
example, find problem areas to IMPROVE on-- I have bad sleep hygiene (as
evidenced by my wearable’s sleep scores) personally sleep very poorly but I
intend to fix this by
 (a) tracking my daily sleep habits and
 (b) making an effort to take naps throughout the day to get my mind to rest
more. I have also
 (c) resumed writing on my dream journal to tap into my unconscious. The
past weeks I have been having bizarre dreams again. Last night there was
a blue-sliver talking cat that flew into my room; she claims to have come
from the Tang Dynasty. I am trying to figure out the symbolism of this
dream and do
 (d) some sketching too (art as therapy) to help me relax and
 (e) do more tai chi, qi gong, meditate and get lots of positive emotion.
o All these would have to be guided by the lens of the theories / concepts covered in
class.
o (3) Look at our class Canvas under tab> Pages and Module 3> Learning
Materials numbers 1 and 2 as well as ALL the Exercises on Module 3. Do all of
these and then write your reflections here about it. You may also opt to include a
visual representation of your map/plan to become happier. Here is one such
example. You may use Canva or other apps then include the visual in your essay

I got this image off the internet when I used the search word “happiness
life map” you don’t need to copy it, figure out your own style.

 This individual output focuses on the student analyzing his/her personal experiences rather
than those of someone else as they refer to their Narrative Knowing Output to a more
proactive decision-making self.

 This INTEGRATIVE Essay should be around 500 minimum words/ no maximum.

(Garamond/Calibri, Font size 12)

 The essay must go with a VISUAL (see sample above). You will not get full marks without
it.
