(a) Apply auxiliary hydraulic power and fully extend flaps. (Refer to Learjet Maintenance Manual,
Chapter 29.)
(b) Remove the auxiliary hydraulic power from the aircraft. (Refer to Learjet Maintenance Manual,
Chapter 29.)
(c) Remove the wing-to-fuselage fairing aft access panel (250CC) to get access to aft aileron con-
trol quadrant assembly.
(d) Center the aileron and insert the rigging pin (P/N 4514080002) to lock the aft aileron quadrant
assembly.
(e) Remove the lower wing access panels (540AL and 640AR) to get access to the wing aileron
control cable turnbuckle.
(f) Remove the locking clip and loosen the turnbuckles, as necessary, that connect the wing
inboard aileron control cable to the wing outboard aileron control cable.

NOTE: Loosen the turnbuckles, as necessary, to access the fasteners that secure the aft
trunnion assembly to the wing spar.

(2) Disconnect external electrical power and batteries (main and emergency) from aircraft. (Refer to
Learjet Maintenance Manual, Chapter 24.)

B. Remove the MLG. (Refer to Maintenance Manual, Chapter 32.)

C. Remove the shear pins and break-out blocks. (Refer to Maintenance Manual, Chapter 32.)

D. Remove the pins and collars that hold the bushing retention clips in place on the trunnion assembly.
(Refer to SRM, Chapter 51.)

E. Remove the retention clips from the trunnion fittings. (See Figure 6-1.)

F. Wipe the inspection areas clean with a wiping cloth to remove dirt or grease. (See Figure 6-1.)

5. Calibration Procedure

A. Connect eddy current probe, part number MP905-80, to eddy current instrument using manufacturer’s
recommended cable.

B. Turn on instrument power.

NOTE: The eddy current instrument may need to warm to operating temperature.

C. Set instrument controls as required in the table that follows.

NOTE: Instrument settings in the table are to be used as a reference for ease of test set-up. Each
manufacturer’s instrument and probe combination will have different phase and gain set-
tings necessary for optimum operation and sensitivity.

INSTRUMENT: STAVELEY INSTRUMENTS MODEL NO. NORTEC 2000

Frequency 500 Khz

Phase 312

Gain Vertical 76

Gain Horizontal 54

Probe Drive MID

Low Pass Filter 100Hz

High Pass Filter 0 Hz

D. Put the eddy current probe on a notch free area of Calibration Standard SRS-0824A/7075-T73 and
balance (null) impedence plane instrument until you get a horizontal lift-off signal. (See Figure 6-2 and
6-3.)

E. Move probe across Calibration Standard SRS-0824A/7075-T73 .040” EDM notch and view instrument
display. Adjust instrument controls (gain and phase) to get a full screen height signal. (See Figure 6-2
and 6-4.)

6. Inspection Procedure

A. Put the probe on trunnion fitting adjacent to the area of inspection. (See Figure 6-1.)

B. Null (balance) the instrument and adjust the instrument phase controls as necessary to get a lift-off sig-
nal equivalent to that monitored in the calibration procedure. (See Figure 6-3.)

C. Examine around each shear pin bushing in the forward and aft trunnion fittings. Examine the inboard
and outboard side of each flange. (See Figure 6-1.)

NOTE: Use care when examining around the edges to avoid false indications from edge effect
and lift-off. Use of a nonmetallic plug for a probe guide is recommended to prevent false
indications. Remove the plug after use.

D. Report all verifiable crack indications by part name, part number, and exact location of crack.

7. Acceptance/Rejection Criteria

A. All repeatable and verifiable crack indications are cause for rejection.

8. Post Inspection

A. Install the bushing retention clips and plates that were removed for inspection. Use new pins and col-
lars. (Refer to SRM Chapter 51 for installation of fasteners.)
