I. Description
This is an introductory course aimed to adults and young adult learners of English.
It has the purpose of introducing students into the four basic language skills in
addition to vocabulary and pronunciation.
To give students basic knowledge about the current usage of English with an
emphasis on speaking skills in order for them to be able to interact in a simple way
with other English speakers.
A. Understand simple standard speech, and recognize familiar words and very
basic phrases.
B. Understand very short, simple texts picking up familiar names and basic
phrases one at a time and rereading as required.
C. Interact in a simple way using simple phrases.
D. Write short and simple messages.
The course emphasizes the relationship between theory and practice. Students are
expected to actively participate in class activities and role-plays and do all the
assigned activities. Students will also carry out one project to apply most of the
information seen over the course.
