Complete the following question and show working where necessary.

Your construction company was hired by the organisers’ of Mystic


Mountain, Rainforest Adventures to build another sky lift and zip line.

A. The sky lift should to be constructed at an angle of elevation of 30° up


to the peak of the mountain. (Use the actual height of mystic mountain in metres)
i) Draw and label a diagram to represent the information about the
sky lift. [2 marks]
ii) How long should the cable for the sky lift be? [3 marks]

B. The organizers want the zip line to have two platforms (towers / anchors).
The starting platform (on higher ground) should be about 50 m away from
the ending platform. The slope length from the top of the starting
platform to the top of the ending platform should be about 70 m.
i) Copy and label the diagram to represent the information about
the zip line above. [2 marks]

ii) What would be the angle of depression from platform one to


two to the nearest degree? [3 marks]

C. The diagram below represents another option for the zip line. The
angle of depression from the top of platform one to the top of platform
two and three are 35° and 20° respectively.
