For the Task (Week 1)
Objectives:
After going through with this Learning kit, the learners will be able to:
1. discuss the basic tools and materials used in electricity;
2. make a list of electrical materials for a specific electrical task;
3. realize the value of preparing the tools and materials for the task

Electrical tools:
In performing any electrical task, knowledge and preparation of the tools is
very necessary to make the work effectively and efficiently done. The tools are said to
be the extension of the human hand. Hence, making the work easy and fast.
Electrical tools can be classified too, based on their functions as: Boring
tools Cutting tools, Driving tools, Holding tools, and there are other Tools Made for
Special Purposes.
After knowing these electrical tools and materials, you are expected to answer
intelligently all the activities provided in this activity.

This is used to bore

holes on metal sheets

This is used for cutting

wires and cables.

This is used for cutting

rigid metal conduits. A

This tool is used to drive

screws with hexagonal slot
head. This could be in a ALLEN
shape of screwdriver or a SCREWDRIVER/WRENC

screws with a single slot
head. The blade tip is STANDARD/FLAT HEAD
wedge- shaped and SCREWDRIVER
resembles a negative (-)
sign.

This tool is used to drive

screws with a cross slot
heads. The cross tip

sign.

This tool is used to drive

nails and the claw is used

Electrical Materials:
Electrical materials are items made for a specific function in doing any electrical task.
Among these are:
✔ It holds and secure wires to its fixtures in the interior and exterior parts
of the house or buildings.
✔ It carries electrical power from the source to the load or current
consuming devices such as electric fan and flat iron.
✔ It controls the flow of current in an electrical circuit.
✔ It protects houses, buildings, and appliances from any form of damage
such as fire.

JUNCTION BOX is an octagonal shaped electrical material where

the connections or joints of wires are being done. This could be
made of metal or plastic (PVC) Polyvinylchloride.

LAMP HOLDERS are devices that hold and protect the lamp. They
are commonly known as “Lamp Sockets/Receptacles”. These
comes in many designs and sizes. They are classified as flush,
hanging (weatherproof/chain) and surface types.

MALE PLUG is a device inserted to a convenience outlet to conduct

electric current. A flat cord is attached to it on one end and the
other end is connected to a current consuming devices or
appliances.

UTILITY BOX is a rectangular shaped metallic or plastic (PVC)

material in which flush type convenience outlets and switches are
attached.

SWITCH is a device that connects and disconnects the flow of

electric current.
