Quarter 2-Week 1: Day 5
(November 11, 2022/12:35-1:15 PM)

I. OBJECTIVES:
A. CONTENT STANDARD: The learners demonstrate understanding of factors and multiples and
addition and subtraction of fractions.
B. PERFORMANCE STANDARD: The learners are able to apply knowledge of factors and multiples,
and addition and subtraction of fractions in mathematical problems and real-life situations.
C. LEARNING COMPETENCY: The learners differentiates prime from composite numbers. M4NS-IIb-66
D. At the end of the 50 minutes lesson, the learners should be able to:
1. differentiate prime numbers from composite numbers;
2. identify the prime and composite from the given set of numbers; and
3. show enjoyment in doing learning activities.

II. CONTENT:
A. TOPIC: Prime and Composite Numbers
B. REFERENCES: Module 3 in Mathematics 4
C. MATERIALS: PowerPoint presentation, Laptop, TV, Puzzle chart

III. PROCEDURE:
1. PRELIMINARY ACTIVITY:
A. ENERGIZER: Let us sing the song entitled “I Love Math.”
B. DRILL: Do the Multiplication Decagon
2. DEVELOPMENTAL ACTIVITIES
A. REVIEW: Thumbs Up or Thumbs Down: Do thumbs up if the number is composite and thumbs
down if not.
1. 65
2. 72
3. 81
4. 33
5. 28
3. MOTIVATION: Let’s study this table:

4. PRESENTATION OF THE LESSON:

Ask: What do you notice with the numbers 3, 5, and 13? What do we call these numbers? What do
you notice with the numbers 6, 10, 20, and 32? What do we call these numbers?
5. ANALYSIS: Match Column A and Column B.
Column A Column B
___1. Number 1 A. It is a whole number greater than 1 which
___2. Prime Number has more than two factors.
___3. Composite Number B. It is a whole number greater than 1 which
has exactly two factors, the number itself
and 1.
C. It is a special number because it is neither
prime nor composite.

6. APPLICATION:
Activity: Using the table below, write the numbers in the appropriate column.

23 12 13 18 21 17 19 36 24 11
Numbers with more than 2 Factors Numbers with only 2 Factors

7. ABSTRACTION: Complete the puzzle.

IV. ASSESSMENT: Read and understand each question carefully. Choose the letter of the correct answer
1. These are numbers with 2 factors (one and itself).
A. prime number C. composite number
B. even numbers D. odd numbers
2. These are numbers with more than two factors.
A. prime number C. composite number
B. even numbers D. odd numbers
