The main difference between chemical change and the physical change is the

composition of a substance will be different. When chemical change happens, the

chemical bond of the substance will be broken or created, so some new substance
will be given out. Moreover, substance cannot return to its original state if no
additional reaction happens. There are many chemical changes occurring around us,
for example, iron rusting, photosynthesis, and fruit ripening. The chemical properties
of those substances change to make the new substance. The chemical changes
cannot be undone most of the time. For example, it is hard for us to reflash the fruit if
it is already ripened, because the structure of the fruit has already been changing to
make the new substance.

When physical change happens, the substance’s state will be changed, but there is
no change of the substance's chemical bonding. When substance undergoes a
physical change, it can return to its original state. Physical reaction mainly changing
the appearance of the substance, some common changes like shape, state, and
temperature. Although the physical properties are different, the molecules of the
substance do not change. There are many physical changes that occur around us,
like freezing water to become ice, heating water to become steam, or bending.
Physical changes will not affect the molecules of a substance. For example, if we
melt the ice, it will change from solid state to liquid state. Although its appearance
has been changing, it still remains H2O molecules.

Both chemical and physical changes will bring out some new properties. For
example, chemical change will make the substance have some new chemical
reaction, like changing color or smell of the substance. For physical changes, the
substance will change its hardness, shape, and toughness, but not change the
substance. Physical changes will only change the properties of a substance.
However, some chemical change will have the production of precipitate to give out
some new substance. The production of the chemical change does not have
limitations, liquid, solid, even gas, can be produced through chemical changes.
Therefore, chemical changes will give out production, but physical changes will not.
Both chemical change and physical change will produce heat. When a substance is
changing state, it may release heat. When different chemicals are mixing, it will also
release heat. After chemical change, the substance cannot return to its original state.
For example, we mix two chemical solutions to form precipitate, but we cannot return
the precipitate to be two different solutions. However, substance can be undone after
physical change. For example, after we break a metal, we can melt it and form the
metal again.
