MY WELL-BEING MATTERS

Mental Health Awareness Month provides a timely reminder that that mental
health is essential and that those living with mental health issues are deserving of
care, understanding, compassion, and pathways to hope, healing, recovery, and
fulfillment. Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-
being. It affects how we think, feel, and act as we cope with life. It also helps
determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. Mental health
is important at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through
adulthood and aging. As part of the Mental Health Awareness Month the PIT
joined with the theme "Make Mental Health and Wellbeing for All a Global
Priority". The green ribbon is the symbol of mental health awareness. This is to
show colleagues, loved ones and simply those who walk past that you care their
mental health and support good mental health for all. As I visit the booth, there
were lots of quotes, motivational message and even video clips regarding mental
health awareness. I realized a lot walking and exploring around booth, I realized
that our emotional and mental health is important because it’s a vital part of our
life and gives impacts to your thoughts, behaviors and emotions. Being healthy
emotionally can promote productivity and effectiveness in activities like work,
school or caregiving. It plays an important part in the health of your relationships,
and allows you to adapt to changes in your life and cope with adversity. Looking
my results in the perceived stress scale and GAD-7 anxiety made me bring into
mind that I am really stressed emotionally and it’s not enough telling yourself “it’s
okay, you got this”, “it’s alright just a small problem” or even telling yourself “it’s
just a headache it can’t affect my studies”. These such words can’t really lighten up
your mood or problems in life. You really need someone whom you can trust,
doing activities you think you can enjoy, being more social, setting realistic goal
for self and ask for professional help. Our mental health has a direct impact on our
ability to take in new information, understand new concepts and master new skills.
When struggling with depression, anxiety or other mental health issues, working
on assignments and attending classes can become impossible, so as a student we
must take care of our mental health. Being mentally healthy is a loved by
everybody.
