STUDENT REWARD SYSTEM

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT AND MOTIVATION
Our students are our assets. Our students are superb too. Many students of the ABQ
Sohar family outshine owing to the initiatives they take in and outside their classrooms.
Many students are high achievers on the academic forefront.

To recognize and acknowledge these shining stars, ABQ Sohar gives a variety of
incentives for motivating and creating a feeling of pride and achievement. The reward
system is an amazing way to raise students' participation in the everyday classroom
tasks, responsibilities and learning. The reward system is also aimed at promoting a
positive and appropriate behaviour at school. Rewards vary from intrinsic (like praises
and motivational phrases) and extrinsic (tangible rewards like certificates, badges or
gifts.

We believe that successful students are happy students and in order to have a classroom
of happy students, we use a reward system. Hence, our reward system is aimed at
encouraging our students to be productive in their learning journey.

PRINCIPAL'S DESK
Dear ABQ Sohar Family,

Although we cannot predict with certainty the types of jobs that will
exist in the future, we know that today’s students will need a variety
of skills, 21st century skills, to cope with the demands of the ever-
changing job market.

How can we prepare students for jobs which may not exist yet? At
school, we spend a lot of time to continuously identify the best ways
to provide our students with ​authentic​, ​unique​,​ and innovative
learning experiences that will foster the development of these
essential skills. That is the very reason why we introduced and follow
the ABQ DYP (Discovering You Programme) for all students from
Grade 3-12.

It is hard to foresee the future, and it can be difficult for students to

see themselves in their ideal careers, but every time I read about yet
another Omani citizen making their mark and accomplishing great
things in the world, I get excited for our students. If we (as school and
parents) instill the passion and the will to work for what they believe
in, the students can dream it, and then they can most certainly also
do it. I wanted to say, “the sky is the limit”, but thanks to innovative
pioneers such as Elon Musk, the sky is no longer the limit.

Omani photographer, Haitham bin Khamis Al Farsi has recently

joined the National Geographic as a professional photographer
among 80 collaborating photographers around the world and is the
first Omani photographer to work in this global agency. National
Geographic has already published two of his photographs on the
agency’s official platforms that attract millions of followers from all
over the world.

Another source of inspiration is Omani adventurer, Sulaiman

Hamoud Al Na’abi, who managed to climb in one single adventure,
the summits of Mount Everest, which extends to 8,849 meters above
sea level, and “Lhotse”, the 4th highest mountain top in the world,
which extends to 8,516 meters above sea level. This venture forms
part of the “Explorer’s Grand Slam” programme that takes
participants on a journey to climb the seven highest summits in the
world.

The time is right for anyone willing to work hard and take initiative
and I am excited to see the achievements of our current students in
the years to come.
