Halloween Movie :

The Speculum

SCENE 1 :
Movie starts, MC and her best friend heads to the
storage room since the teacher asked them to help
grab some new chairs, to replace the chairs that
somehow break everyday. They grab the chairs from
the storage room and begins to take them out. Once
the room was more clear, MC finds a hand mirror on
the floor. Out of curiosity, she picks it up and puts it in
his pocket.
MC : This is the fifth time this week.. why cant we get
chairs that don’t break on the first day
Best friend : Im gonna bring my own chair tomorrow.
MC : laughs*
After MC picks up the mirror*
Best friend : Come on hurry up
MC : Yea coming. *puts mirror in her pocket*

SCENE 2 :
MC gets home and unpacks. She puts the mirror she
found on the bedside table and begins
studying/watching movies. Time passes and night
comes around. Its getting late. MC does her night
routine and gets ready for bed. She sees the mirror on
the bedside table. She stares into it for a moment and
goes to sleep. As she falls asleep, the sound of finger
tapping can be heard. (Camera zooms into mirror, a
black blur can be seen moving across the glass)

SCENE 3 :
In her dream, she finds herself in the school halls. She
finds herself holding the mirror she found. She catches
a glimpse of the same black figure walking around
under dimly lit lights. The figure stops, facing her from
down the hall. The lights flicker and the monster
teleports closer to her. (Jumpscare) and the MC wakes
up. Once she was awake, she picked up the mirror and
stares at it.
MC : Heavy breathing*
To get her mind off things, she decides to go for her
morning jog.

SCENE 4 :
After a while of jogging, she takes a break and stops
near a puddle. During her small stop, she notices a
puddle next to her and stares at it. A black figure leans
across the , out of nowhere. (Jumpscare sound) Mc
falls over in shock and kicks the puddle. In a hurry, she
runs back home. Back at the house, her sister is making
breakfast.
MC comes in the kitchen panting*
Reen : That was faster than usual. How was ur run?
Reen notices than MC is still panting, looking quite
scared.
Reen : Are you okay? Do you need anything?
MC snaps herself back into reality and shakes it off.
MC says with a light smile*: Im fine, I don’t think it was
anything.
Reen : SIGH* You know you can talk to me right? (pats
shoulder*)
MC : Yeah, I know; I’m fine, nothing to worry about.

SCENE 5 :
She goes to school. At school, she’s the first to arrive.
She puts down her bag and scrolls through apps on her
phone. Out of nowhere, she grew extremely tired.
Feeling fatigued, she ends up falling asleep. Camera
pans out and we see her asleep. Finger tapping starts
for a moment, and then it goes quiet. In her dream,
she finds herself wandering along empty school halls
(2nd floor). In the corner of the hall she notices a tall,
slender figure walking across. Feeling scared at the
sight of the strange entity wandering empty school
halls, she makes a run for it. As she runs down the hall,
she takes a quick glance back and notices that the
creature was no longer behind her. She finds herself
walking into the CCTV room. Taking advantage of the
access to the security cameras, she uses the
opportunity to scan the school perimeters. She
watches the screen intensely. Nothing in particular can
be seen. Suddenly, a tall figure hurries past the
corridors, disappearing behind a corner. (small
jumpscare). She notices that the corridor she watched
it pass through was near the room she was currently in.
Slowly she backs up, keeping an eye on the tv. The
CCTV screen switches to recording of the triangle
headed entity glitching, scaring her in the process. By
now she’s desperate for escape, she turns to the door,
but it slams in front of her face loudly, shocking her for
a moment. She immediately turned back around to the
screens but finds the monster towering over her,
smiling, scaring her. (Jumpscare) and the MC jolts up,
waking up from her second nightmare. She scans the
class to find a few classmates already there. Her best
friend walks up to her asking about her ”nap”. She tells
her friend about the weird things she’s been seeing
and asked whether or not her friend has been hearing
weird finger tapping noises. To her surprise, her friend
said no and called her crazy. She rummages through
her bag and finds the mirror in it. She stares at it in
disbelief, looking at her reflection. She starts to get
extremely worried and decides to throw it away.

Best Friend: you alright? You look a little pale..

MC: Yeah, Yeah, I’m good, just a lil’ nightmare I
suppose…
Best Friend: You look tired though, have you been
sleeping enough?
MC: *thumbs up*
Best Friend : Okay then..
Best friend walks away*
MC : wait- Have you been seeing any weird things
lately? Or maybe have you heard like… finger tapping?
Best friend : What? Are you sure youre okay? I think
you need some more sleep.
SCENE 6 :
She goes to the bathroom to wash her face and hears
more finger tapping coming from behind her. Behind
her in the bathroom stall, a black ruined hand peeks
out, continuing the finger tapping on the stall doors.
MC freezes in fear. After the hand stops she slowly
turns around to check. When she turns around,
nothing is behind her. She turns back to the mirror and
sees the monster? Staring at her through the
reflection. (jumpscare scene). She runs back to the
class in fear. Her vision begins to distort and her ears
begins to ring. Her friend notices her acting strange
and asks her if shes okay. MC ignores her friend and
stumbles back out of the class.

SCENE 7 :
Recess kicks in and MC decides to take a walk around
the school. She finds herself going through the
kindergarten hall alone. The sound of finger tapping
starts and she looks around for the source. Through
the nets and bushes, she’s able to make out a slim, tall
figure standing on the field, staring at her. In fear, she
begins running. Once out of the hall, she scans the field
to find no one there. MC heads back into the main
building, in search of her friend. She walks into the
classroom to find no one there. The lights were off the
room was cold and empty. Only a projector stood at
the centre of the class, playing a strange eerie
recording of a triangle headed entity glitching. The
screen goes still, still glitching, as if struggling to
continue. The finger tapping resumes, growing louder,
followed by the sound of rapid footsteps. The door
then slams shut. (Jumpscare) The lights outside flicker.
MC opens the door walks out to find a figure standing a
few metres away from her. The sound of tapping can
be heard as its still facing away from her. Slowly, the
thing turns, facing the MC. Finger tapping stops. Lights
flicker again and it disappears. MC makes a run for it.
As shes running, she notices that the building is empty.
Not a single person can be seen. The sound of rapid
footsteps following behind her in pursuit can be heard
clearly. The lights flicker again and the footsteps stop.
She turns around to see nothing behind her. Finger
tapping continues and in front of the exit, she sees the
figure standing there. She turns around and bolts into
the nearest classroom, locking the door.

SCENE 8 : ( Alternative 1 )
She keeps her eye on the door, walking backwards
slowly, her legs trembling in fear. (heavy breathing) As
she stares at the door, the sound of finger tapping on
the door can be heard, as if the monster was begging
to be let in. She backs up to the back of the class, trying
to think of ways to escape. The reps of finger tapping
began to decrease and eventually stopped for a brief
moment. She scans the room, wondering why it went
quiet out of nowhere. Out of the corner of her eye, she
notices a mirror placed on the table. Slowly, she walks
up to the mirror. She stares into it and eventually it
clicks. She remembers that the creature could move
using mirrors. The heavy breathing continues again.
She knew the monster was nearby, she panics and
turns her head left and right trying to find out where it
was. Out of nowhere, a cold hand finds its way onto
her leg, dragging her down. She screams as she falls.
She kicks the arm away and begins to crawl away,
begging for help. The room goes quiet and cold. The
sound of finger tapping resumes for the last time. Each
rep growing faster. The sound of rapid footsteps and
thumping occur. (Jumpscare) (death). End scene.

SCENE 8 : ( Alternative 2 )
She keeps her eye on the door, walking backwards
slowly, her legs trembling in fear. (heavy breathing).
She turns around and notices that the room she was in
was no longer the same room she walked into, but the
storage room at the beginning of the movie. In
disbelief, she wondered what just happened. She
notices shes holding something, she looks down and
finds the mirror back in her hands. A sense of déjà vu
kicks in and her head begins to hurt, her ears ringing as
well. Suddenly, a familiar voice speaks out. Her best
friend began talking to her as if they were having a
casual conversation. She then notices that her friend
was repeating the exact same lines from the beginning.
Feeling extremely confused and worried she asked her
friend. “Are you okay?” The friend responds. But with
every word that came out her friends mouth, their
voice began to distort gradually, eventually resulting in
an extremely distorted and shrill voice. She walks up to
her friend to look at him/her face to face. Once their
eyes met, the mirror in her hand falls to the ground.
Her friend’s face was no longer the same face she
recognized. Instead, the monsters face was plastered
on, smiling at her with a sense of bloodlust. (movie
ends)

CREDITS PLAY
END CREDITS SCENE :
At night back at home, Reen walks into MC room to
look for any clues as to where her sister is. She notices
a misplaced mirror sitting on top of the bed. She picks
it up and stares at it for a moment. She puts it down
and walks out of the room. Camera pans into the
mirror followed by the sounds of finger tapping. Movie
ends.
